As a religious studies major, I was summoned by the title.

Reason and analysis can lead you to what’s true but it can’t enter into the door with you. Only feeling can do that.

I'm Orthodox and I hate having to pretend that much of the bullshit in our church isn't bullshit.

I am currently entering my third year of university, taking Philosophy at a private Christian university. While there’s much that I have learned during my time here, and while I am deeply drawn to the interconnected Christian social community that is possible in a place like this, I have gradually come to find that our philosophy professors and I do not speak the same language. I am a Pegeau guy, I’ve connected well with all things Jordan Peterson. Phenomenological. They are more scholastic and analytic, all about Plantinga and Charles Taylor. It is encouraging to hear Pegeau identify and describe his disconnect, here, with that type of thinking. I have been beaten down, during my first two years, because I speak and nobody understands. Philosophy professors least of all. Truly, thinking occurs in modes, and constructive dialogue requires shared approach and terms. I am aware that my approach differs from that of my department, but I worry that they consider any form or approach that deviates from theirs to be dangerous and seductive.

I think Catholicism has a good balance of mystery and analytic rigor with its scholastic tradition, which is ultimately why I chose it over Orthodoxy.

I've shown my Protestant mother Orthodox "influencer's" content here on Youtube and she ended up telling me Orthodoxy seems like it is too New Age lol.

I was atheist for 20 yrs after growing up catholic. I was pulled and drawn back to Christianity a few years ago. I went to Protestant churches and was so turned off I couldn’t believe how un-awe inspiring they were. They also were HEAVILY influenced by pop culture and current times life. I ended up at a Protestant church but only because the pastor is heavily influenced by small “c” and small “o” catholic and orthodox. I really like it for those reasons. If the pastor wasn’t so good I would definitely be at an Orthodox or Catholic Church. Almost every church in my medium sized town feels like a load of BS

Analytic philosophy helped take me to God by way of consciousness.

"The world of religion has always been a world of bullshit." Couldn't have said it better myself. Kind of a self-snitch though. You seem pretty proud and confident in dealing with bullshit, Mr. Pageau.

In my own experience I’ve gotten increasingly uninterested in Protestant apologetics on the basis that they seem to always go after the fruit of the problem but miss the presuppositions in the roots. For something like the problem of evil and yeah I can agree with arguments that suppose the greatest goods God give us require overcoming evil; hope, love, courage, forgiveness, liberty, etc. but arguing with a naturalists about that is a waste of time. At the end of the day the problem itself is one of pride, the feeling of entitlement and ownership to feel above anything you don’t feel above. God’s Being is infinite intelligence and you think because you’ve begun to have reason and come across witticisms that makes you superior to infinite Reason? And when confronted God will be astounded by arguments he’s never seen before? Relinquishing that pathetic pride “Where were you when I laid the foundation of the Earth?” Is as sufficient an answer as it gets. I don’t feel the need to arguing with those consumed by pride, that would be prideful.

The WORLD is full of BS.

You don't avoid it by avoiding religion any more than you get rid of stupid, arrogant, malevolent people by doing so.

He's 100% off on the lack of tradition for evangelicals, but who would people pick out without strawmen and gross exaggerations?

Jesus got his associates in life. After experiencing death he earned his bs. Moving forward he encounters his masters. For his doctorit he will heel, knowing his mother heals. He will face society with his mind.
