I love hearing those old Johnny’s pulled down, under load. Their rhythmic chugging is a reminder of hours spent riding & dreaming, in my formative years!

Dad’s JD dealership had an M&W dyno back in the ‘60’s primarily used to put a load on rebuilt engines to help seat the rings. M&let back then was also known for selling parts for increasing power including Power Blocks and Turbo Kits.

When I heard you mention “M&W” I immediately recalled waaay back, that farmers when they would overhaul their tractors they would use M&W pistons and rings for “more power!” M&W had quite a good reputation for overhaul parts and tractor performance. Fun to watch the dyno and see Johnny X power up. What an amazing increase in PTO power. Let’s hope it holds together 😉. Blessings.

Seeing all of these antique tractors is always fun to see at the fair. My uncle just happened to sell his father's Allis-Chalmers (hand crank start) tractor to someone wanting to restore it. Have only seen it once, but it's a piece of history.

There's no replacement for displacement but the turbo made a huge improvement over the stock 1025R

I think I finally understand how that dyno works...just as long as you don't ask me to explain it.

Excellent video Tim.
Always love seeing Johny X in action.
I sure hope to get a turbo kit someday for my Gen 2, 2025R.
That Turbo sounds Oh
I think this demonstrates quite well why when given a choice, I tend to always recommend a turbo charged tractor if any sort of heavy PTO work is planned.
I have seen this in real world mowing applications comparing the likes of a 3033R non turbo to a 3039R turbo and how the Turbo can really help power through thick heavy grass where the non turbo would always stall out.

The old tractors bring back memories of backing up an articulated hay rack with a hand clutch Johnny popper. That was fun. I now have a 1025R and that is also quite gratifying and extremely useful for many jobs.

Love the old Tractors. We had an old 1932 Ford tractor we plowed about 20 acres in the late 70s…man was that fun!

On my granddad's farm we had a John Deere B and two 520's, an M and H Farmall. Now those are antiques and so am I.

LOL, that kid on the right at 11:36 walking into the shot. He wasn't sure about that.

Grew up using A's and B's on our farm. I remember when we got a 44 Massey Harris. A tractor w power steering and a foot clutch. Thought I died and gone to heaven lol. Still love hearing those Johnny Poppers though.

I think my Granddad had that model of JD. Probably turned in his grave that the family has two Kubotas and only a JD garden tractor. 😆 lol
