Clearing out some old things & came across this. Somehow, I never got around to building another machine with it. Maybe it's time to drop it off at the recycle depot? #shorts

Whatever you do, don’t trash it. There is tons of people paying more than you’d expect for old PC parts. There’s a lot of old games and programs that are really hard to run on modern hardware!

There's definitely hobbyists and collectors for old PC stuff. Maybe Adrian's Digital Basement or LGR wants it.

Should see if it's something Clint over at LGR might want.

Yeah. It’s a 32-bit machine. Not even the newest Linux distributions will run on it. Get it out of there.

You might be able to give it away (or even sell it) to someone locally, there are plenty of people out there building retro computers to run games that don't work properly on a modern PC.

Do not recycle this! Sell it on, or give it away to a retro gaming enthusiast, there are many of us out there and it'll be a lot better environmentally than melting it down too! Give me that Duke 3D any day! At least people didn't get so offended back then...

As other people have said DO NOT recycle it, belive it or not some of the older gear is getting more sought after these days for retro enthusiasts/gamers and the like, you can get a few bucks off of it or easily give it away

Yeah, a Pentium 2 doesnt seem that usable anymore except maybe for some retro nerds, i am however currently tracking my band at the rehearsal studio with a Pentium 4 single core desktop running XP, 16 channels recording via firewire with DAW monitoring using a recent version of Reaper which still supports XP. So you can still track with a 16 year old computer, i do the mixing at home on my much more powerful computer though.

Yeah these things are starting to gain value as people build retro game rigs out of them

takes me back to the times when I used to come home from school, play not only Duke Nukem 3d but my favorite game Blood (1997) and then login to Yahoo messenger to talk to some friends... good times.

Damn. Slot 1 at 366 MHz was the stuff dreams were made of. You were definitely one of the cool kids if you had one of these back then.

I see sold comps around $100 for motherboards /CPU/RAM of that era, and those have less variety of expansion slots - yours appears to have 3 generations of expansion slot on one board. Hundred bucks, man. Recycle only as a last resort to Reduce and Reuse.

DO NOT RECYCLE THAT! please! There's a huge collectors scene for old computers. It's like recycling a vintage Les Paul. Put it on eBay/Craigslist/What ever you have in Canada, there's someone who wants it.

I would keep it and load it up with obsolete music software, there is plenty of it available around the net and its great fun trying to remember how to use them lol

I sold a 286 motherboard (fully working with a 287 copro) not too long ago for $100, and got rid of a bunch of 40" 4:3 plasmas to retro gaming/arcade cab guys. Ppl will pay money for that stuff so long as it works.

Dude, if i lived anywhere near you I'd buy it off you just for decorative purposes. I'm certain you can find some nearby tech geek that would love to have that for display.

I still have duke nukem installed. We could play that sometime on the discord instead of whatever fancy FPS you do these days 😂.

Would be an interesting video. Recording on ancient tech.
