The 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season is the most active hurricane season in recorded history, beating the record set in the 2005 hurricane season, marking only the second time that the Greek Alphabet has been used for hurricane names. With 30 named storms including seven major hurricanes and the latest category 5 hurricane on record. The 2020 hurricane season will forever be remembered for not only its rapid pace of storm formations with September being the first month where 10 named storms have ever formed in a single month, and for its late-season ferocity, with five of the last six storms being major hurricanes, including 3 Caribbean Sea hurricanes which are now all ranked in the top 5 of fastest intensifying storms in recorded history in the Atlantic basin.

The 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season also broke records for landfalls, with a historic twelve tropical storms and hurricanes making landfall in the continental United States, the strongest recorded landfall in western Louisiana with Hurricane Laura, the strongest landfalling storm in Louisiana recorded past the middle of October with Hurricane Zeta, and the first time multiple major Hurricanes have made landfall in Central America in November or later with Hurricane Iota and Hurricane Eta.

Thank you to everyone for your continued support through this never before seen hurricane season, and we hope to see this amazing community grow even more in the coming years.

This season was by far the most remarkable I’ve seen in my 4 years of storm coverage with Force Thirteen. Despite the damages and truly terrible storms, I’ve never been more proud to see the kindness of this community and empathy to help those in need, even complete strangers that you won’t ever meet, recover from these natural disasters. You’re all the best

This was by far, one of the two most unforgettable years; 2005 for the Gulf Coast, and 2020 for the Central Americans

"Further Miserry" seems a good title for a eta and Iota documental

This was the first Hurricane season that I followed from the beginning with Arthur to the end with Iota. It's been a really busy season.

Fun Fact: This year would’ve been the first year to end with a Category 5 Hurricane in the Atlantic basin if it wasn’t for the last minute change for Iota.

Y’all happy now?

This season will be remembered for decades to come. So many record-breaking storms, and one of the worst for the US Gulf Coast and Central America. What an epic season...

I will never forget this season. tracking this season was crazy.
30 named storms, 13 Hurricanes, and 6 Majors, that’s some crazy totals. Not to mention all the records broken by 2020, like earliest storm formation dates, one of the most RIing storms, Latest C5, etc.
