The global climate crisis is also a food security crisis, a water crisis, and a malnutrition crisis. In the last 60 years, climate change has reduced agricultural productivity growth by an average of 21%— and up to 40% in some regions— with impacts predicted to accelerate in coming decades. Agriculture and food systems are gaining increasing attention in international climate settings, including at COP 27, as policy makers recognize their role in both mitigating and adapting to the climate crisis.

During this webinar, we’ll provide an overview of food security, nutrition, and water issues that were highlighted at COP 27, share examples of how USAID and partners are driving inclusive climate action in agriculture and food systems, discuss what we can all do to continue supporting countries implement their national climate commitments, and highlight ways for USAID Missions and implementing partners to engage in this increasingly important space.
