How To : Empty RV Waste Tanks

Living full-time in our RV means we deal with our own water and sewer waste frequently.

Emptying sewer tanks is probably one of the least glamourous parts of RV living, but it’s a necessity. We’ve found that using this process for emptying tanks helps to keep our sewer hoses less stinky. Here's the order we dump.

We have 3 waste tanks.
1️⃣ Black tank- toilet
2️⃣ Grey tank- kitchen sink
3️⃣ Grey tank- shower & bathroom sink

Do you empty your trailer’s waste tanks in this order?

P.S. we keep hand sanitizer nearby in case you were worried 💩😁 and is it Grey or Gray?

We've lived in our 5th wheel trailer full-time since 2021, traveling the US with our kids. We share lots of cool RV gadgets, camper upgrades, trailer DIY projects, and just regular old life on the road. Follow for more RV content and humor.

What's that called? A rinoblaster? I really hope you have some type of backflow prevention on that hose somewhere, this is the exact type of high risk situation they label in the plumbing code books for hydrants. Also, no wonder they always want ground hydrants to have a dual check valve instead of a vacuum breaker like wall hydrants
