Can we all collectively thank this man for putting in all this effort to create the absolute best educational videos about our ancestors?

Clicking on a new video of North02 very much reminds me of when I was a kid and a new National Geographic landed in the mailbox. Sort of that little tingling you get when you open the new magazine and wow, there is so much interesting stuff. Anyone else know what I mean?

Finally, someone else talking about one of the most overlooked fossil remains in history. Thanks for the video.

How is no one talking about the potential of the future documentaries from North 02? This could be a huge leap in the right direction for the Paleocommunity and future creatives. North, you're going to go far my guy.

These people could be the mysterious southern (as opposed to the Siberian) population of Denisovans whose genes can be detected in modern Melanesian/Australasian populations. There are purported to be at least three distinct Denisovan populations based on modern and ancient DNA results. I hope they are eventually able to get DNA from these fossils, or find more fossil remains that yield DNA!

You know I got them notifications turned on :)))

I'd like you guys make a doc about the Bajau people, the "sea nomads" who if i'm not mistaken have more denisovan genes than usual, which allow them to be under water for longer. thanks.

Thanks for posting. Your style is very relaxing and informative and never feel like its made for maximum views, just for people who like exactly what you're putting out there, perfect to unwind after a full day.

Looking forward to seeing you take on some bigger media projects!

Hey man I'm wondering if you've ever played the game Dawn of Man?

It's an amazing game that starts you in the Paleolithic with a small group of people that you command to collect resources & hunt. But when your people get enough knowledge you move to Neolithic where there are less wild fauna like mammoths and wooly rhinos to hunt for food and furs so you'll have to upgrade your huts into thatched mud huts and plant crops. Then you'll start getting raided so you'll have to build walls and defenses and eventually farm animals for their wool or milk to support even more people.

I'd really reccomend Dawn of Man to you if you haven't played it I think you'd love seeing your small 2 hut tribe transform into a fortified village

Hypothesis: If these people were genetically distinct and were hybridising 11, 000 years ago, then a survey of the genomes of say 1, 000 'indigenous' people living in nearby valleys might reveal some interesting and informative DNA sequences from which at least a part of their genome could be reconstructed.

A partial genomic DNA sequence confirmed the red deer cave people are anatomically modern humans of an early diversified lineage in East Asia, as published in the "A Late Pleistocene human genome from Southwest China" July 2022. So not a new species or hybrid species, but still very interesting stuff if you take a look at the study.

Also goes to show that humans are robustly diverse in looks and you can't tell everything by skulls and bones alone. Makes me wonder how much simpler the human fossil record would be if we could just access the DNA of all the various samples of archaic and hybrid hominins.

I appreciate your videos whenever they come out, so take your time, work on your studies, and give us gold when you can.

Thank you again for your great content, which always leaves me spending the next thirty minutes or so doing more reading to find out more.

I’m watching this for the upteenth time.. as I do with most of them.. but.. it’s stories like THIS.. it really reinforces the concept behind indigenous peoples oral history, when they have “others” or “ancient ones who came before”.. so many times their accurate bits of historical reference are brushed aside.. I really really love it when things come up that potentially proves a tribe right somewhere..
1.. because they deserve the vindication..
And 2.. because I’m a history junkie and I want to hear about MORE new prehistoric stuff 🥰🥰 it’s so AWESOME.. 😬

Thank you, great food for thought. I believe that there have been multitudes of humans throughout human history. I believe more will be found, I hope so. I also believe different strains of humanity lived side by side and mated?! I also believe that that many of these beings that evolved in Africa inhabited Africa for many 10s of thousands of years before leaving Africa. I am 72 years old and I'm only now learning just how big Africa really is.
