Automation is what we use to make our songs so organic, real and breathing. It allows a huge amount of control over the dynamic and composition of your song. It is a crucial step in producing music no matter what genre you are working on.
While we do automate effects and filters from the very start of the production process,I usually don't automate the mixer until most of the song is composed. Once the majority of the song is recorded, we start volume automation.
There are so many different methods and ways to go about this process so try to find one that fits for you. Since we write, compose, arrange, record, produce, mix and master our own music we like to leave the automation until the end so we have flexibility.

These tutorials are amazing. I've been using FL studio for years now and things like automation clips are nothing new to me. So first I'm always thinking like 'mmh dont need to watch it, already know that.' but somehow i always watch them and always learn something new. i did for example not know about the smoothening tool of automation clips. i doubt if im ever gonna use it but its nice to know tho.
