DELETED Engineer Dialogue in Opening Scene TRANSLATED in the Script

In todays video I’ll be covering the translation of the opening dialogue between engineers that was unfortunately deleted from Prometheus. In the theatrical version, we only whiteness a lone Engineer approaching the waterfall.

However in the blu ray edition, multiple Engineers participate in the sacrifice ceremony. This deleted scene may be the most important scene in the franchise but there is a deeper hidden layer it. The Early Prometheus script actually has a dialogue between Engineers in this scene that reveals a few mysteries from the movie.

This extended conversation between Engineers only appears in the ealy Prometheus script and it was removed even from the blue ray deleted scene.

This extended opening with the translated dialogue sheds light on the Engineer mythology and the reasons they created humanity and later decided destroy it.

I always felt like engineer scenes were unusually short as if the production team really wanted to edit them out for some reason.

However, the deleted material explains some of the Engineers actions and motivations in the movie that otherwise would seem confusing.

The following passage is taken from the Early Prometheus script that was highly edited by the studio and as a result many enginners scenes and dialogues were unfortunately cut. However this early script can still be found online and it even appears in the official Prometheus documentary.

The box that the elder Engineer has in the script is actually a cup or a bowl that has a smaller cup with a gold ish liquid inside. The elder engineer referes to it as the blood of our lord which is later revealed in the script to be the blood of the first deacon, a god like creature portrayed on the mural that the Engineers worshiped.
When Prometheus crew entered the temple, we can barely see the obscure craving on the wall depicting a xenomorph like creature that is actually an ancient Engineer diety that they were trying to resurrect.

In the movie, right in front of the deacon mural, we saw a green crystal, however instead of this crystal, there was suppose to be the bowl from the beginning of the movie, the same bowl that contain the blood of the Engineer lord, the first deacon. There are a few behind the scene photos with this bowl instead of the green crystal and this bowl also appears in the trailer, confirming that the deacon and its blood were supposed to play a much bigger role in the movie.. However, because the studio decided to cut out the Engineer storyline all major elements related to engineers were removed or replaced.
So who is the first deacon, why Engineers considered this creature their lord why its blood allowed them to create life on other planets and procreate? Let’s first answer these questions before we review the rest of the deleted scene.
The Elder Engineer also says “For we cannot create as the gift was stripped from us long ago.” referring to the fact for some reason Engineers lost their ability to reproduce, which brings us to the most interesting part of this video.
To fully understand what the elder said and answer these questions we need to look into the Prometheus documentary that actually explain the entire history of Engineers and their complex relationship with humans.
The official Prometheus documentary also reveals why Engineers lost their ability to reproduce. For a few seconds the documentary show somethings called the master narrative that not only clarifies the engineer lore but also explains why engineers created humanity and why they potentially decided to end it.
By looking at the master narrative, this is what we are able to read

Their civilization meaning the Engineers civilization is millions of years old.

Once Engineers expressed themselves as humans do, taking pleasure in music, color and story, but they’ve long since learned to see in more dimensions than we do. Their arts and ornaments exist on planes imperceptible to human senses. Their constructions look dark and grim to us, but the Engineers’ eyes see far more than our own.

From the alien master narrative, we learned that Engineer lost their ability to reproduce because they started procreating with technology and eventually their biology changed to the point that they could not reproduce naturally..Which is the reason they had to use the blood of the first deacon, their version of God to create new life and procreate.

The early script explains who the first deacon creature was but before we get to it, let’s review the rest of the deleted opening scene.
In the opening sequence Engineers created humanity using the blood of their God, which brings a questions who was this deacon deity that is also portrayed on the mural.
In the scene when the crew enters the temple David translates Engineer writings on the walls and reveals the translation to Weyland.

Prometheus needs to be rereleased, with all the original ideas reinstated, new footage, new scenes, perhaps different ending, even if it is 4 hours long, it should be called "Prometheus - the original story". This will bring the franchise back.

I can think of no other film being made so much less interesting through it's editing process. So bizarre. There were so many cool and unique ideas and they just straight up removed 95% of them. It's no wonder the series fizzled out. They just weren't allowed to take risks and the risky moves were the only reason that they wanted to do it in the first place.

The whole alien saga was boiled down to a series of horror action flicks when it could have been a truly epic, thought-provoking saga. The subsequent stories would have been no less dramatic and intense, but the explanation of how things came to be would have added other poignant dimensions of conversation.
I would love to see a film developed behind this origin.

So as i understand it in chronological order in regards of the black goo.
-The intro scene of Prometheus play millions of years before humanity. At that time the Engineers still had the pure blood of the first deacon that allowed to seed life on planets.
-Millions of years later the blood ran out and they tried to reverse engineer it. But instead created an agressive pathogen that impregnates and creates monsters from life forms.
-This may be the reason why David destroyed the Engineer outpost/settlement on Planet 4. He realized the Engineers where as faulity/violent as humans (judging by their creations) and destroyed them with their own weapons.

They completely omitted the only dialogue in the movie that gave it any intelligence. They really do want to dumb us down.

The whole Engineer arc of Prometheus was by far the most interesting and engaging part of the film. It was an awesome opportunity to really broaden out the Alien universe. I agree with everyone else who commented that the studio really dropped the ball when they edited out these aspects of the production. I was hoping for the longest time that the sequel was really going to follow Shaw and David to "Paradise" and we would have been exposed directly to the Engineer culture. Alas, no. What we got was the Covenant deleted scene "The Crossing" and the 20 second flashback clip that showed David's genocidal attack on the "sort-of-Engineers" on the planet. You never know, we might yet get to see more of this story line IF Ridley Scott ever gets to produce Alien Awakening...but don't hold your breath.

WHY would they have removed this??? This is a critical piece of the story - along with the additional lore you provided. What a shame

They really should have an entire movie just for the Engineers. Doing that would tremendously help the franchise.

this easily could have been the greatest movie ever. watching all of these videos of what this movie could have been always makes me so sad.

I think the design of the Engineers was fantastic, almost like magnified humans or giant living marble statues.

Man Ridley Scott abandoned something really profound and interesting. Prometheus was the next level to the Alien saga. Answering decades old question like where does the xenomorph come from. Engineers scared the hell out of me way more than a xenomorph ever did. Prometheus is also an ancient story of our own planet. A race of certain people living today just might have been seeded here to carry on their dying space travelling race...

This movie came out over 10 years ago and I am still learning about it. So many untapped possibilities and I firmly believe that continuing the engineer aspect would have gained more and more fans.

Wish Scott would write a whole series of books on the engineers

This so called "Draft script" is the "Draft No# 17 Orange revision" and *has been PROVEN to be a fake fan edit script.* The fan in question, who put it together clearly took some pieces from the early Prometheus script images shown in the documentary "The Furious Gods" and edited them into his own work. This script appeared after the publication of the Blu-ray extended material, which includes The Furious Gods documentary. Damon Lindelof himself has stated that this script is fake in a Twitter post. *Please do your research before believing the unsupported theories of this channel.*

So many scenes feel unfinished in the whole Alien universe, like you can literally feel that something was removed at a certain moment. Man this universe would have been perfect of the studios were passionate about it

It all should have been included in the movie. … I personally would like this story continued on the engineers in future movies… but sadly I don’t think it will happen.

This is an intriguing take on Ancient Alien Theory, and makes the movie so much more interesting. It activates the mind, and even though it provides answers, it actually creates even more of a mystique. It's also interesting that their intention was too create life, but the experiment failed. I think it's important to flip the script on Hollywood films that most often seem to present Aliens as a threat. Finally, it also activates one's spirit in a way, it has a kind "good" spiritual vibe. This whole thing makes it clear that Scott has spent a great deal of time pondering all the info out there on possible Alien interaction with Earth throughout the ages

I hate when I learn how much good content was deleted. I love this movie because it is so much more science fiction than the original Alien series. Those are fun, but their fun is from the violence and fear they generate. I'm sure, though, people would have complained that the movie is too long if these scenes were included. Thanks for detailing them 🙂

Some people might consider this a retcon, not canon, or some level of a mistake made by the writers, personally, I can only imagine how messy the production of a movie like this can be, how many sacrifices must be taken especially if a dreaded committee gets involved, so I really appreciate having a chance to get to know details like these that help shed light upon a story that could have been much more interesting and well developed than the version we ended up getting, so I thank you so much for sharing this in this video! I actually got to love Prometheus because of your efforts! Cheers!
