"With wanting to revisit the old style of SOJOURNER I decided to tap into our roots on a lyrical level. 'Perennial' very much follows the thread of nature and it’s loss at our very own hands. This theme was prevalent in several songs on our first album so it made sense to revisit that. The vocals were meticulously worked on with Lucia to make sure that every single word worked in its tone and placement. Later, with Tom joining in on backing vocals at the very end, we truly felt happy with the end result.We are super excited about our future with our two new awesome members!"

Wow! This backs up my theory why metal is the greatest form of music and has such a close community. It's the most accurate expression of human conciousness. Every raw emotion, beauty, power, every up and down of the human soul can be maximized and projected through metal. Amazing song!

I keep returning to this. Honestly this is stellar work. I’ve been following multiple bands and metal outlets for years and years and rarely find something so moving and beautiful in an extreme genre. The vocal passages are magnificent and the combo of brutality with the female vocals is mind-blowing. Not since Tristania’s Beyond the Veil have I heard a beauty and the beast approach as gorgeous as this one.

Very good band. Definitely tier-1 in the death metal genre along with Insomnium and Draconian.
Difficult to pinpoint their exact genre though, as I can hear elements of folk and symphonic metal in their sound.
They have guitar lines at times that are eerily reminiscent of Don Anderson's in Agalloch, referring for instance to Eulogy for the Lost that has a line very similar to In the Shadow of our Pale Companion. Maybe this is just projection on my part though...
They sometimes have a "medieval" sound as well. I always think of my younger days playing D&D with friends when I hear Sojourner.

My two cents: This is quite enjoyable and we'll produced but I'd be enthusiastic or even blown up by this if it weren't the fact that I've heard this before on their first album. It feels like a carbon copy of Sojourners earlier productions. Personally I'd have liked to see some progression/evolution of their pretty distinctive atmospheric sound.
Hopefully next full production will deliver just that. 🤘🤘
