Do Modern Translations Make Jesus Into Lucifer?

Do modern English translations of the Bible make Jesus Christ into the fallen angel Lucifer? In this video, I examine some of the arguments King James Only advocates make against modern Bible translations on the subject of Isaiah 14:12.

Often times when I take interest in a specific Bible verse or passage, I'll not only get a commentary on it, but I'll compare and contrast varying degrees of translations between word-for-word Bibles or thought-for-thought Bibles; this video has reinforced that conviction in me, so thank you for great content once more! I was also unaware of your mother's condition, and am sorry to hear about that. I'll pray for her tonight. God bless.

Looks like Steven Anderson and Peter Ruckman disliked this video.

The term "morning star" confuses many because they think it refer to a single entity, well it don't. If you look at Job 38:7 it says "when the morning stars sang together...." this is plural form, meaning many, and this is said by God Himself. So stop this confusion. The Lord Jesus is the Bright Morning Star. So morning star may refer to a batch of angels.

The way I see it is this: "Lucifer" is both a name & a title, like you said it translates to "morning star" but it also means "light bearer/bringer" & originally this was Lucifer/Satan's job as an angel of God before he rebelled after which his title of "Lucifer" (the light bearer/bringer) was stripped from him.

On the other hand we have Jesus, He is referred to as the "morning star" as well, but He is also the "Light of the World" & therefore the title of "Lucifer" (light bearer/bringer) can rightfully belong to Him.

I don't focus a lot on translation debates, but I do think people diminish the importance of the words you read in the Bible. Putting aside this particular objection, I think there's crucial distinctions between the KJV and other English-language, contemporary translations.

For example, Paul's speech on the Areopagus in Acts 17. In the KJV, he begins his monologue by stating, "I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious." In the NKJV, Paul states, "I perceive that in all things you are very religious."

In Ancient Rome, "religio" was the proper veneration of state-sanctioned gods, whereas "superstitio" was secretive rituals that unapproved, demonized cults partook of-like the early followers of Jesus. Paul's statement is obviously inverting the order here by mocking the polytheistic, Greek pagans, in the same way that Elijah mocked the false prophets of Baal. But if you rely on the NKJV you'd think Paul was complimenting these people for worshiping false gods. Paul's testimony at Mars Hill makes no sense in that context.

Likewise, in Luke 2:14, it's stated "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will towards men. On the other hand, in the NIV's version of that same verse we have, "Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests." It changes the very character of God himself. If you rely on the NIV, you'll have a completely different impression of who God is and what the mission of Jesus was during his time on earth.

Even though the ESV doesn't make the same type of dramatic, obvious changes, when you compare it to the KJV you'll still notice subtle differences that when examined closely amount to very significant changes.

👓 Jesus can be Lucifer
and Lucifer can be Jesus
Archangel Michael could be Belzebub and vice versa
God can be satan or antigod

📍 it depends on how is described, viewed and experienced the model of that person
📍 The more positively and lovely you can experience that person and being with her the more it is "God"(highest- the best good for people and any being) in that experience
📍 The more negatively you experience that image and model and doing things by some 'living model" of spirits- the more evil is in that experience

I have heard the same argument about King James version only. However, the Holy Spirit gives you discernment. Hebrews 4:12
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

My friend went to Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia in the '70's. His hermeneutics professor said words don't have meanings, only usages. That has been helpful to me over the years. Context reigns!

One of my favorite versions is the Amplified Bible. I've been using the Holy Name Bible and one simply called The Scriptures. I started out with KJV, used an NIV for years and literally tore apart a Hebrew Greek Bible. I cannot believe that the Father or Jesus is going to discount me because I didn't stick to a certain version of His Word. It's good to remember that most people way back when neither had a Bible or could even read one.
Good topic. When this season of your personal life that's needing more attention than YouTube followers is over, maybe you could expound more.
Glad your mom is better. Blessings and prayers for good health.
