Engine is missing running on one cylinder has spark

I have seen that a bunch of times and the reason is because bad gas will make the valves hang up in the guides.if you push in on the valve and if sticks spray the valve guide and keep working it until it frees up and no more problem

Over heating and the valve guides climb out the heads and bend the push rods because the rod is week compared to the valve guide

Once upon a time this was a chronic thing with the Kohler twins with hydraulic lifters. The lifters are finicky about the oil you use in the engine. Pretty sure you should use only 10W30 engine oil - maybe consider using only Kohler 10W30 engine oil in it.

Check for a mouse nest on the top of that cylinder. Gets hot and valves seize in the valve guides, bending push rods. Sometimes the guide will also move. I'm guessing after straitening it did it again after a heat cycle.

You got the valves adjusted wrong. It should spin over without that long pause. Clean all your battery and wire connections also.

Isabel the same mower....I started to take the cover off the valves on the other side and an oil/gas mix started running out when I tried to remove the cover?? Is that normal? I want to get to the push rods, etc....to diagnose the issue. I noticed oil leaking from the valve area in that side and there is gas squirting out of the carb.
