There are far too many extreme angles, with wide corners with a limited approach. These are exceptional horses, keen and wanting to gallop on. Cross country shouldn't be set up to catch them out, it's not fair on honest horses doing their best. And it's dangerous. Time for a rethink with cross country course design.

With a course like this, placings are really a matter of dumb luck. The riders can do their best and the horses are trying their hardest, but the course is monstrous; terrible angles, tiny little skinnies, no room to turn a horse, and no where to let up for a minute or two. With the heights of the fences and the length of the course, this is an event that unfairly tests horses and riders. At least the riders have a choice - the horses don’t.

Thank you for putting this together. So often falls are swept under the rug and never shown. This is so unfair to the horses. If we care about them AT ALL, the course should be more about endurance and less about dangerous gymnastic questions.

Was disappointed with some of the jumps being sooo close together. The angles of the triangular jumps so dangerous for horse and riders catching their legs a glancing blow on the points at the triangles. They need to space them further apart. Why try to hurt a horse and rider is beyond me. Why ruin a good horse's confidence?

3:05 that’s so stupid, ur horse practically tripping n losing balance after the first jump n u STILL kick it on for a second jump that is clearly too high for a horse that isn’t balanced let alone the rider is, so stupid, what an honest horse for even trying to get over that jump.

What in the world was that disgusting music?? I agree with lucy (below) there are too many "trap" jumps. It should be based on endurance, jumping ability, and timing. All the corner fences are absurd.

The collapsible fences are an extremely good idea to stop rotational falls for the horse and rider, pity they haven’t been able to come up other new safety features for other fences

The title "Best falls and refusals" is a bit sick. How can you love horses and watch them get hurt. 😢

As an old time eventer, I marvel at how different the obstacles are these days. At this level it isn't fair for anyone to second guess these riders. Having said that, I wish that this compilation was put up using a song that didn't have so much profanity in it. I think it goes against the amazingness of this level of competition.

If I were a horse, I’d refuse these jumps too. This should be fun and a learning process. No jumps set up to fail. Hugs to these honest horses !

What is the point of making things so hard for the horse that they get injuries? Poor horses.

Burghley is much more challenging than the Versailles course, which in my opinion was far too easy for a the Olympics. The Olympic; Three Day event is far softer now not only with the short format but the actual courses, where were the drops at Paris? Many of those International riders could not have coped with the Trout Hatchery.

As hard as this course was and there was definitely some hard combinations. I think all in all the course was kinder and more horses completed than usual. A usual sticking point alot of the years is normally in the leaf pit where this year the b element was moved further back. I think this year the major question was the rolex corners, specially the b element. These are the best of the best riders and this is the best of the best course. If everyone made it round we wouldnt have a competition and it would turn into a dressage competition. I think the course builders did a brilliant job to ask questions of the best riders and it was in different ways to usual.

Around 8:10 that horse saved his butt by not trying the ditch and the he makes him go so slow to it. That horse took care of him, maybe not what he wanted but that’s a wonderful horse. Trying to make him take it slow was not a good plan. Horse didn’t even get a pat. All those horses deserve a pat. They are asking them to do very stupid things let’s be honest.

Insanely dangerous challenges! The course designers should be required to RIDE THE COURSE THEMSELVES before the competition.

Best falls? How can any fall be classified as best? Too much chance of injuries to horse and rider.

That first jump hurt the horse. It could’ve had broken ribs after that 😡.
