Wow you could go for Etemenanki! You basically never do that!

I’m so glad to see a non-modded game once in a while! As a console player, these experiences feel much more relatable.

looking at the two locked in woods tiles being worked while a marsh lies dormant is the kind of that that triggers a desire to restart in my own games when I do something like it

Wow, what a brutal start as Maya to have the majority of the tiles within the 6 tile limit be desert and tundra. And congrats on the Etemenanki build, the few times I’ve played on Deity it’s always been built somehow by turn 40

Imagine being the person at Firaxis that gets to decide which people get in to be the Great People. Straight up spending days reading about scientists or merchants on Wikipedia would be so sick.

I just reload when I get a coastal start with Maya so I appreciate your efforts to make it work.

You're a better man than me Potato, I would've instantly reshuffled the second I saw desert 😭

I'd argue that Canada is also a civ that wants a Builder immediately, because Tundra tiles are total ass until they get improved.

Hey Potato thanks for getting back with Civ6. Recently bought it and watched your older vids and they’ve really helped me!

Also, a fun fact - your capital city is located in such way, that you could build all 4 'Petras" - marsh (Etemenanki), desert(Petra), tundra(St. Basil's) and water(Mausoleum) and all of them will improve 2-3 tiles around it so will be +/- okay

settling near the coast when all your cities need to be within 6 tiles cuts off ~half your options, plus desert to the north and tundra to the south. yeesh.

Ngl i absolutely love the marshes pantheon + etemenanki combo, it turns marshes from tiles that are decent at best into powerhouses

You don't get silk from spiders, you get it from Silkworms. Just a friendly FYI :)

Wow potato! You went for Etemenanki! I'm so surprised - you go for it about as rarely as you go for the Venetian Arsenal! Also - when Venetian Arsenal?

Love you moving the second city away from the third ring desert floodplain wheat 😂

Seems someone forgot about the other part of that pantheon…

Potato talking about silk spiders got me having a Pavlovian deep memory recall from childhood of the Silksteel Alloys tech quote from Alpha Centauri.

"Until quite recently, spider silk had the highest tensile strength of any substance known to man, and the name Silksteel pays homage to the arachnid for good reason."

Hmm...Maya sounds like it wants to settle inland and then surround that central core of the capital with all its cities. You don't want to spread too wide to avoid the penalty, and there's no extra benefits for settling your capital on the coast. Something like a spoke and wheel look. Though I guess the quality of terrain tiles really does dictate it more.

I love the random starts without the other games modes on.

These videos are addicting, can't not hop into Civ 6 after watching.
