Don’t go there. Trust me.🤐❌
3 things you should NEVER talk about in Italy! Andiamo!
Italians love to talk to new people, but there are a few topics to avoid if you're striking up a conversation with strangers.
1) The mafia. Italians have plenty of opinions about the mafia, but they don't appreciate generalized statements, or worse, ‘le barzellette’ - jokes, on the topic made by people from other countries.
2) The church. While Italy isn't as religious as it once was, many people are still devout Catholics. Talking or joking about ‘il Papa’ - Pope, ‘la chiesa cattolica’ - Catholic church, or ‘la religione’ - religion in general can easily offend your potential new friends.
3) Politics. Unless you're very well-educated on ‘la politica Italiana’ - Italian politics or ‘il governo’ - the government, Italians won't appreciate most comments made by foreigners who don't live in Italy.
