I bought the Bellroy case at launch, as soon as I opened the box I closed it and sent it back. The “leather” just smelled like burnt rubber. I wanted to love it, but couldn’t do it. I ultimately went with bullstrap and I’m happy that I did.

I have the dark brown one and the leather starts to get soft after a couple weeks. Has a very nice scent too now versus the plastic feel when first coming out the box. For a few days I thought this was vinyl but I was very wrong it really starts to break in as leather after couple weeks.

Is this case made of plant-based(vegan) leather? It doesn’t look like genuine leather.
