CDC-USBC Coalitions Webinar: Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition's A.C.T.I.O.N. Model (02/11/2014)

State breastfeeding coalitions striving to activate "systems change" that improve outcomes may be challenged by the complexity of factors involved and by the limited resources that are available to provide organization, direction and accountability toward the organizations' mission. Connecticut's A.C.T.I.O.N. (Accelerating Coalitions Toward Improved Outcomes Now) model for state breastfeeding coalitions introduces a framework that may assist coalitions with activities that are evidence based and therefore, capable of achieving meaningful and measurable outcomes. Guided by the U.S. Surgeon General's Call to Action (2011), but adapted for use at the state level, the Model integrates critical multidisciplinary concepts to provide further direction and accountability. This presentation will introduce the A.C.T.I.O.N. model in the context of evidence based advocacy for state breastfeeding coalitions and provide one salient example of how the Model may be operationalized in practice.
