On the fence about whether to purchase an Escape with or without the Ford Intelligent 4WD?

We made a quick video here today doing a demo of the capabilities in 4-6 inches of snow in standard road tires at 60% lifespan of the tire treads.

Hope this is helpful!

I've had '94, '95 & '2000 Chevy Blazers with 4-wheel and I missed having them. Just got a Ford Escape 4-wheel drive and me and my husband have been looking for the 4-wheel drive button like the Blazers had on them for 2 days now. There is no actual 4-wheel drive button on the dash. LOL
Thank you for showing how to navigate the screen. I watched another video and the guy just showed it in 4-wheel but didn't show how he got that to show on the screen.
Of course I have the owners manual but who wants to sit and read all of that stuff when I can give you a video viewing, review and a thumbs up. Cha-Ching!

To answer some questions without getting too technical:
This vehicle is primarily based as a front 2wd system - Drive chill/like grandma and only your front tires give your power. Drive angry/gun it at green lights - it now automatically also adds about equal power to the rear wheels (4wd) and returns to the front 2wd aspect when you chill out. Drive on snow, gravel, up a gravel/snow hill etc, it will automatically transfer power to whichever individual wheel/wheels have the most traction (AWD), whilst also primarily working off the the 4wd concept as opposed to the front 2wd aspect.

Basically, regardless of what screen your on, it's front wheel drive until it needs more power/traction, then it automatically will use a combination of 4wd and AWD to best unf*ck whatever situation you got yourself into.

I live in the Mountainous area of WV and believe me we get snow.
We have had 37" of snow one winter last winter we had 12 - 14"
So yeah I have snow right now I have a 1988 Jeep Cherokee XJ with good tires and I have 0 problems getting about. But I am considering a Ford Escape.

I have the 2014 1.5 liter escape. I have gone through snow much deeper than that but you must have the traction control off.

Do you leave it in the 4x4 until you get to destination or is it like a regular 4x4 you need to take it out when the roads are better?

So to use the 4wd do you have to first go into that screen on the dash and select that, or does it just work automatically? Also with AWD (4wd) do you have to replace all 4 tires if only one goes bad? I’ve heard different things about that

With my 2015 Ford escape my brother said I still need to keep my transmission in slow. It does seem to be the best as for as traction and control. Yes with my traction all wheel on is this ok?...Spokane Washington

Do you have to change it to the screen with 4wd for it to be on or does it automatically kick on regardless of screen?
