Why is Psyche mission going to 16 Psyche asteroid? #shorts

Psyche mission launched on October 13, 2023 will take six years and travel about 3.6 billion years. The psyche is the largest ‘M-type’ asteroids which are remnants of planets destroyed in the early periods of solar system. Due to multiple collisions, outer layers were stripped off leaving behind metal rich core. The mission will confirm if the asteroid was hot and molten initially but slowly cooled and solidified, or, it is made of material that was never molten at all.
