Shrek 5 DELAYED Because of Minions

DreamWorks Animation has changed their upcoming movie release schedule for next year. Shrek 5 has been pushed back because of the third Minions movie. We're also getting a bunch of other animated sequels like Toy Story 5 and Ice Age 6!

Honestly, I don’t mind the change, and it gives the creators even MORE time to perfect it. Nintendo’s quote explains my opinion clearly

Very disappointed but honestly the reason they moved the Minions up to July 2026 is due to the fact that June/July has been the traditional months where they mostly release the _Despicable Me/Minions_ films much like how June has been associated with the release of most Pixar films since Cars (with a few exceptions), November being a tradition for the Walt Disney Animation Studios Films.

This is actually smart on Dreamworks' part. Like it or not, the Minions make money, so it'll be better for Dreamworks to release _Shrek 5_ when there is NO competition.

The reason Shrek 5 was delayed and Minions 3 advanced is cuz Universal was taking advantage of the box office numbers, and that DM4 made the lots of money last summer, same with Rise of Gru back in 2022. Puss in Boots The Last Wish came out in December so MAYBE Shrek 5 will be peak like that sequel was. That, and Super Mario Bros. 2 is still that same year in April. Crazy.
