I lived in Memphis area from 1967-73. Parkway Village in '67 and in 1968 moved 2 houses from Lynchburg on the Raliegh/Bartlett line. When I was 12 years old, in 1970. I started hitchhiking all over town. The S. Highland Strip and Overton Park to name a couple. I even hitchhiked to an Assembly of God church on Highland Ave to see and meet David Wilkerson the Cross and the Switchblade preacher. I even had a couple of chances to spend time talk with George Klein. What an awesome man. What bums me out is Big Star wasn't well known or was just emerging when we moved to Florida in February of 1973 and I'm really just in the last couple of years learning their music. We all knew Alex Chilton and The BoxTops but I didn't hear 13 until a year ago. When I saw the home video version on YouTube, I had tears in my eyes. It was the Memphis that I knew from 12-15. Now, I'm a couple of weeks away from 67 and a diehard Big Star fan.
