Supplier of ETS electric buses files for chapter 11

Proterra—the US company that has supplied ETS with 60 electric buses—has filed for bankruptcy protection. Will the city be on the hook if warranties are void?

I always thought it was a little weird that ETS went with Proterra. Toronto was already reporting several instances of weirdness with Proterra buses in their study of different electric buses. And why would Edmonton choose a bus made in the US when there were plenty of electric buses being made in Canada at the time by large, established bus companies like New Flyers from Manitoba, BYD in Ontario, or Novabus in Quebec? Does Alberta really hate its fellow provinces so much that it would refuse to send some business their way?

HAHAHA THIS IS WHAT YOU GET WHEN YOU REJECTED VANCOUVER’s NEW TROLLEYBUS DEMONSTRATOR. You had a pretty large electric trolleybus network and all you had to do was upgrade some major switches and the bus fleet. You rejected New Flyer and Vancouver’s plan to help rehabilitate and decided to dismantle the entire network and buy “PROTERRA” BUSES. LOOK AT WHAT YOU DID. Meanwhile we have the second largest network in North America and it’s going STRONG. Major routes use Trolleybuses and we’re expanding and buying newer ones. Seems like Vancouver perfected Ontario’s Scarborough RT and Edmonton’s Trolleybuses network. The officials should be ashamed!
