Bev Bevan pays tribute to Richard Tandy & Duane Eddy - full interview

Bev Bevan paid tribute to his former ELO bandmate Richard Tandy on BBC West Midlands Radio today, 2nd May 2024. Towards the end of his interview with Kath Stanczyszyn, he also spoke about Duane Eddy.

Thankyou for your beautiful kind words about Richard tandy, I think that Richard didn’t get the recognition he so deserved, not saying he had any kind of raw deal, because he was so appreciated by his friends, family, and musical comrades, and without Richard’s input, the ELO sound would not have been what it became, absolutely magical, Richard was an absolute gift.All I know is he was Jeff Lynne’s wing man, his right hand man, and more importantly, jeff’s mate, of over 50 year’s, not forgetting Richard’s other right hand man, and mate, Dave Scott Morgan, who both Dave and Richard collaborated on many ventures including the infamous Earthrise album, in-fact, and of course you bev have been Richard’s mate from school day’s..Richard was there right from the beginning, right until the end.I believe that Richard should have some kind of memorial in Birmingham, not only to show the people how it’s done, but also to show the people what a brilliant musician look’s like, but one thing’s for certain, the Electric Light Orchestra has gone down in history, and Richards magical note’s which beam brightly from his magical keyboards and will play on until the end of time, and I think everyone will agree, Richard was a sincerely nice bloke, with absolute sincerity and musical integrity beaming from his very pores.Rest in peace Richard Tandy, you will never ever be forgotten, but so sadly missed.My sincere condolences to all of the Tandy family and friends.R.I.P Richard Tandy….You will be missed….🙏❤️🙏

So sorry to hear about Richard. I remember his beautiful piano playing on ELO 2. Just listen to his Moog synth playing on "Daybreaker". Early Moogs had a slight delay on their keyboard action, he was able to anticipate this and play so fast! RIP Richard.
