The stuff of a madman’s dreams – a 204bhp rear wheel drive 3-door Sierra, with the world’s greatest turbo lag, a Diamond White paint job, and a £75k price tag! And you know what – it’s fantastic!

This week, Damian and Jason test drive an unmolested original example of one of the Eighties most exciting cars – the Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. Filmed at Bicester Heritage in the run-up to the Bonhams MPH auction, this is an extended cut of original auction video, which only featured 2 minutes on this epic car.

Is it all it’s cracked up to be? What’s under the hood? What’s that turbo like when it come on song? How can something so ancient be worth so much? And why is this is still one of the best drivers cars? All these questions and more will be answered in this week’s episode.

Iam 54 and anybody driving a new one of these in the 80's was a proper geezer.
I remember thinking, over 200bhp is impossible in a 2 ltr lump for the road.

I had the XR4i with the 2.8 V6 and i loved it with only 150bhp. I really thought it was fast till I once drove the Cosworth. Lovely cars.

I lived in the UK in '91 & '92 (Ashby de la Zouch and Cirencester) and a guy had a white one. This American was very envious we didn't get them in the US. That wing and power level (for the time) were amazing. Great to see you guys so excited by it.

So nice to see A Ford RS Cosworth 3 Door, I had a moonstone blue tolterly standard as it came out from Ford.
It was D444JUA & I had it for 8 years & I loved it I do miss it as it was a fine example.
The video brings it all back as I remmber thank you.

They are great cars, I had a 1988 Sapphire RS Cosworth back in the day, used it as my daily driver to get to work Bournemouth to Southampton. Used to love going via the new forest (before the 40 limits) to avaoid the traffic on the A31. Had many a sideways moment on the St Pauls's roundabout on the Spur Road... Happy times.

I do remember a Hillman Avenger auto beating my mates Cosworth of the lights in Colchester because he had no grip. We did eventually overtake him but we were going sideways. Happy memories.

Awesome. This came out when I was 14, I lusted after one nearly as much as Suzanne Mizzi sadly both out of my league 😂. I looked at one in 1992 for 7 grand but couldn’t afford the 13600 insurance quote for TPFT and the two thatcham immobilizers needed.
