DJI Avata 2 One Year Later: Worth the Hype or Just Hype?

The DJI Avata 2 is officially one year old—so is it still worth it in 2025? I’ll share my honest thoughts after a full year of flying the Avata 2 across different environments, from tight indoor spots to freestyle outdoor flights. We’ll cover camera performance, how it flies, indoor flight struggles, Motion Controller vs. RC2, and whether it’s still the best beginner FPV drone out there. I’ll also talk about what I hope to see from DJI in the next generation.

Hi. Just found your channel, About the time you released this video, I purchased a Mini 3. After the day of flying wife said she would like one. So after some reviewing she picked the NEO. I had seen videos of the Avata 2 and thought someday maybe. The wife said hey what about tariffs, better get it now. POOF😅 Avata 2 delivered 2/21. WOW.... What a blast to fly.. Now remember I have only flown Mini 3 10 or 12 times when I launched the Avata 2 for the first time. Now, no FPV pilot would be impressed by the flying I did, but I ripped around the pasture in my back yard at about 30-35mph at 10' in N mode. I also grabbed me a NEO that I am going to Frankenstein onto a 3" carbon frame. The "NEOMORPH"😮 Can't wait to dive a mountain here in Colorado this summer. Thanks for the awesome videos. Will be binge watching your channel for more useful content.

I have had this drone for about a year as well. I also have custom fpv drones and other RTF ones i bought and i still think the avata 2 is real solid for what its designed to do. anyone in the fpv community knows cinewhoops arent great at freestyle so this isnt for that, although it can handle a bit of tricks. however, like you said its portability and ease of use. Especially if you are flying not for the adrenaline but for the beautiful shot, the avata 2 has beautiful quality and it has a good battery life compared to other cinewhoops and it has beginner friendly controls BUT ALSO can fly full acro, that sometimes gets overlooked.

Love my Avanta 2 great diver but the I don’t like the geo lock once you get to high and prepare for a dive. Battery life is better than most FPV drones but I wish it can be better

I'm on the fence D. Always always always is the next model, starring your brand spanking new products obsolescence in the face. The fact I can not buy a bundle with the RC 3 makes it frustrating that there is already an inherent extra extra cost. We are actually paying to be frustrated in a way.

Is there a speed limit when flying avata 2 manual mode in the UK ?

HAHA i get 7 mins Max in full manual mode with the Avata 2 and thats just flips loops and spins, if i had the skills i reckon it would be more like 5 mins, sadly the Li-on batt is not designed for acro mode its not very powerful either, that said i do love my Avata 2
