fast travel would be hard to balance for this game .. cause many things are tied to ingame time ...

first of all theres always the possibility to get lost, captured, infected or things like that while you're on the way and the other thing is ... if you fast travel.. lets imagine the game says i will take 3 days if you do ..
it would be totally aweful to be in a situation where you thougt .. i travel to levant for trading ... then you are back and then you see .. oh wtf only 2 more days to complete my quest ... and shit i dropped my main weapon in levant to run faster and then forgot about it ... 2 days for the quest and 6 to travel back and forth ...

this is maybe not the best example but there would be many cases to fuck up like this ....

so i prefer the system we have here wich forces you to think twice what you keep in your bag an what not ... its a major mechanic in this game ...
