When Blur, Oasis, Pulp, and even Radiohead seemed to have stopped writing new albums, somehow, miraculously, Suede is the first men standing and also the last men standing of Britpop that has written more albums than anyone else in the past decade. What a blessing to be a Suede fan.

This is proof that sometimes bands aren't finished after the youthful fire goes out. This is one of my favourite Suede songs.

I cannot hear that voice without instantly becoming 16-years-old in 1992 again. Astonishing how music can do that.

In October (2022), it will be a year since my mother passed away and 'She Still Leads Me On' truly hits home. I find myself singing along to it with tears in my eyes and a crack in my voice. In a way, I shouldn't expect anything less from Brett's lyrics or Suede's music. This is one of the only bands that can sing about life's tragedies and transform them into uplifting anthems.

Stop the press - this is beyond beautiful. Suede painted the musical backdrop from my school days, through art school, through working life, then as I encountered fatherhood it’s penned to the majesty of Night Thoughts and The Blue Hour and now this. It hits the soul that just as my mother is very ill, Suede send this heavenly song like a blessing and just after I witnessed them play the most scintillating gig in Berlin. All I can say is “Thank God for Suede”.

As an 18 year old recently discovering suede they’ve quickly become my favourite band and so I feel very blessed that I can hear brand new music from them as a fan

Suede is one of those rare bands whose power never diminishes. Just as brilliant as when they first emerged.

For all the 18/19 year old youngsters who are newfound Suede fans, checkout the story of lead guitarist Richard Oakes joining Suede at their peak after their first 2 albums were released.

It’s amazing - almost unimaginable! From Wikipedia:

The first gig Oakes attended was one of Suede's at the Poole Arts Centre in May 1993. Upon hearing that guitarist Bernard Butler had left the band and that the band were auditioning for a replacement, he recorded versions of Suede songs and some of his own material on a 4 track recorder, which he sent to the band's fanclub along with a note that read "Take me or leave me." …At the age of 17, and after beating approximately five hundred candidates, Oakes officially joined Suede on 17 September 1994 (exactly 2 weeks before his 18th birthday).

This is PHENOMENAL!!!
As a 21 year old in 1993, I saw Suede in Liverpool, Manchester (backstage after gig too briefly) and at Portsmouth Pyramids where I met them outside when they arrived in the afternoon.
I was at the front that night, I'm on the video of the gig lol. Striped shirt, glasses.
This song makes me feel exactly as I did then!!! I'm 50.

Suede is still noise, tears, life after life. Paranormal.

I lost my mum to cancer in 2006, after Suede had split the first time. Other bands, mainly REM, got me through. I was lucky enough to know Suede’s manager from pre-Coming Up and some of the guys themselves, mostly Simon who is just a lovely bloke. I avoided listening to Suede for years as hanging out with them backstage and raiding the office for memorabilia were among the best days of my life. But I’m ready to embrace them again and this song, although tinged with sadness (dad also died in December) is an absolute belter!
