Viking explorer Leif Eriksson cancelled

Vikings are known for their seafaring skills, maybe most of all Leif Eriksson, who discovered America 500 years before Christopher Columbus!

Hailed as a hero by many but not everyone shares the enthusiasm.

Famous painting “Leiv Eiriksson discovering America” from 1893 by Christian Krogh, usually adorns the walls of the Norwegian National Museum.

Last week though, the painting was removed and placed in the basement by orders of the Museum Director Stina Högkvist, as she stated that the painting was romanticizing Norwegians who travelled to America and deemed the painting to be “colonial”.

After a massive media backlash Stina Högkvist publicly apologized her statement, and the painting of one famous viking is once again – back on the wall.

Thank GOD the painting is back.
So over all this sick self hatred and unwarranted guilt.
We should be PROUD of our heritage.

I wish the younger generations would do more HOMEWORK about history

Do not deny history, learn from it for a better tomorrow. These people were only trying to follow their beliefs. It was a much different world back then, and it if wasn't for "colonists" our world would be much smaller.

If you look up “Bumb Ditch” in the dictionary, you’ll find her picture there.😂

Ok that is ridiculous not only for the oblivious thing that we shouldn't hide history, good or bad that it was, but Vikings probably never established a permanent settlement in north America and if they did it would have been very small so they didn't even make a proper colony so how would that even be colonist at all

I am still mad that the redhaired/bearded man from GoT made a Norwegian ''docu-series' basically ''debunking'' all the viking era. I hate him now.

Glad to hear it’s safe for now but who knows what the loony woke will do down the road

Stina needs to be removed from her position as director of the museum. Clearly, she has issues with being Norwegian, and why would you want a self-hating Norwegian in charge of Norwegian history being shown to the world??

Yeah hopping in pretty late - Did they ever establish any substantial "colonies" here in NA? Even Iceland wasnt really a colony until the high medieval era?

Stina Hogkvist deemed it HISTORICAL and thus ventured to change the course of history by removing a painting.
