These things need to run on refillable propellant, or its a special effect instead of a 1:1 build. Gas or liquid. Hydrogen, for example, would burn fast enough to get acceleration within the space of a more normal swing, like in the games, and you could store enough for multiple swings, like in the games. Make it from water, hang the battery for the process on your belt, hook it up when you need to reload. Easy enough. Probably less expensive to test as well, knowing how much rockets can be.

Very cool, good build
Could probably use a rocket motor with a shorter burn time to use all the fuel during a 90° swing
Also, if you want to go into that, the acrylic/oxygen hybrid rocket motor is a lot of fun and very easy to build.
