Former drunkorexic here - 0/10 do not recommend. You know what's worse than waking up hungover? Waking up hungover and not allowing yourself to eat a meal that will give you energy and settle your stomach because CaLoRiEs. Ugh. Truly a masochistic practice.

ALL alcohol is looked at as poison by the body. Just because the amount consumed might be below the threshold for inebriation doesn’t mean there are no negative side effects.

BTW, I’m a lot of fun at parties too!

I suffer from anorexia and if it weren’t for the calories in alcohol I am so terrified that I’d end up with serious alcoholism too. I’ve come dangerously close to abuse as it is. I’m grateful that it has calories tbh

Please be careful with your drinking. I got physically addicted during the pandemic to the point that I couldn't keep any food down until I drank, and then I couldn't keep any food down at all. The withdraws were dangerous and could have k*lled me. I ended up in a 3 day coma with pancreatitis and liver failure. It took me nearly a year to learn to walk again. I had to wear diapers and my hands weren't functional for months. Thankfully, I didn't need a transplant and I'm in a healthy range for my affected organs, but I almost d*ed and I will be forever sensitive to damage from alcohol (not that I have any plans on drinking again). Just because it seems okay NOW doesn't mean that it will stay that way. Please, please, please reach out for help before you get to that point. If your family won't support you, there are plenty of programs out there that can help you. Don't wait

Yeah I had a professor that I was a TA for (it was his first year teaching, brand new PHD closer in age to his students than his colleagues). Who I would run into him on occasion at the YMCA gym that was like 2 blocks from the Uni. The amount of times he confessed to me that he was going to run for an extra hour and not eat until dinner because he had drinks the night before (anything more than 2) was ridiculous! That was 22 years ago, people have been doing this a long long time. It was so bad for him, his brain was useless while he punished himself for having two beers out with friends.
IMAGINE a 28 year old professor being sat down by your 23 year old TA to have an intervention about you hurtling headlong into an eating disorder. If you see your friends doing this, seriously talk to them.

My aunt used to say she was going to “drink dinner” (liquor) instead of eating.

I stopped drinking 5 months ago after 20+ years of drinking regularly. I will never go back. I don’t miss it one bit.

After learning about the impacts just moderate drinking has on your sleep, gut, and long-term impulse control I'm concerned about even casual drinking, not just binge-drinking.

The green smoothie might be beneficial for healing afterwards, like as part of a hangover solution, so long as it still has the fiber bits in it. But literally juice fasting after binging to avoid 'getting fat' is not healthy. The healthy choice would be to not drink.

Alcoholism seems to be hereditary at least in my family...My Dad...His Dad...His Grandfather ...His Great Grandfather all died of alcohol induced cirrhosis of the liver all at the exact same age of 33 ...Fearing it might be something that could be passed down I haven't touched a drop in over 10 years especially now that I turned 33 yrs old and am a parent myself it's not worth the risk 🙏💯

Honestly, the calories were the only reason I cut back on drinking. I got serious about my weight loss and went from drinking 4 times a week to maybe twice a month at most. It probably shouldn't have been my main concern, but at least it worked (for me, anyway).

ABBEY! Thank you so much! I'm 19 and in college, and social media is a huge part of my life. I am so desensitized to this type of content and self-abusive lifestyle that I genuinely didn't see anything wrong with what the video was saying. This video from you was a serious reality check for me and I'm gonna try and be more cognizant of what I consume rather than brainlessly absorbing slop. Thank you so much

11 months sober as a former alcoholic. I lost no weight after getting sober. Do I really care? No, because I feel so much better not drinking every night!

I get so much flack for not drinking anymore since I stopped. It just makes all of my other health issues worse. Then I have family members pushing the other extreme of eating low calorie low carb (keto light diet) and saying I should cut out all processed foods and seed oils. 🤦‍♀️ That’s why I buy my own groceries and make my own meals so I can have a healthier relationship with food and keep ‘junk’ food in my fridge and cupboard. And largely forget it is there most of the time. So the times I want something sweet I can have the ice cream and/or the brownie and move on with my day without feeling deprived and wanting to binge.

I’ll recommend here, as I recommend it on every video about alcohol consumption. Everyone should read “This Naked Mind” and the accompanying book “The Alcohol Experiment”. It changed my life. I was a binge drinker. I damaged my body so intensely. Now, I only drink on occasion and I rarely have more than 2 drinks in one night. I neverrrr go past three. It’s been several years since I read the book but the lessons have stuck with me. Give it a read. Let it change your brain. I can’t even tell you how much more stable, happy and calm I am now.

Vodka is pretty low calorie.
But moderation is key to everything we consume.

I used to do this. Ended up with gastritis for a year. Now I eat balanced and drink occasionally. Life is better without worrying about calories. Just eat balanced

not drunkorexics getting named and shamed. My whole being was shaken hearing that actually spoken out loud.

1. You are drinking too much alcohol

2. The less you put in the drink the less calories it tends to be

3. Mix it with seltzer instead
