How I learned to draw hands in a week

Drawing hands is really hard, so I decided to spend a week (non consecutively) learning to draw hands BETTER. I did a lot of art studies and practice to improve my hand drawing skills. Hopefully this tutorial will be helpful to you too.

Pretty big note: fingers have a certain range of motion, they can bend at the knuckle but unless you've got weird hands the mid section and end of the finger bend together or curl together. (The ring finger in your drawing has the finger tip bending way too far)

I also really love pairing off fingers. It’s usually very elegant, more fun to draw, or adds general design interest because of the variation. For “spread finger” poses though, arcs are essential

I find it way easier to start with the fingers and then figure out how they connect with the palm, so I can catch the whole gesture instead of construct it with wires.
But I feel the biggest problem people has with drawing hands is that they are not really sure of what to do with the hands. If you have an intention since the beggining is not that hard to figure out, but often what happens is that they draw the character, leave a circle for the hands, and then at the end fill them with wherever it fits the pose instead of deciding since the start the hand position.

One tip i taught myself for drawing hands is to remember your thumbs always point towards YOU at least naturally speaking

for fingeres I started breacking them down into cylinders so far. Ill box the shape out. Divide the distance and/or use a line as a skeleton. and then ill just use ovals for each part of the fingers to help me with where the fingers(so the intersection of the ovals are my knuckles.) Then ill outline the whole thing making the top of the fingers flatters and keeping the round of the ovals for the bottom part and just refine the fingers from there
