Retro CN Transfer Caboose on the Sprague Subdivision! (Sept. 2022)

Показать описание
In early September 2022**, I managed to catch a super rare movement as well as some neat older locomotives on CN's Sprague Subdivision east of Winnipeg!
I was driving past the small town of Ste. Anne's and noticed a short train in the 'siding' with something you don't see too often this far outside of the yard. CN SD75i 5724, 7 freight cars and most importantly CN Transfer Caboose 76665! It was one of 210 built at CN's Pointe St. Charles shops (this one built in 1980) and is one of the 5 or so left on the CN roster. I'm pretty sure this train was for training new conductors and or engineers.
As I left the town after taking a couple pictures, I noticed the train starting to move! I turned around and raced over to the west end of the nearby Inspection Portal and caught the short train going through on their way back to Symington Yard. I even got a little whistle blast from the conductor on the caboose!
Later on that day, I was coming back to the city and had managed to get ahead of a westbound mixed freight train! I believe it was one from the Duluth area, 400 something? Leading were CN ES44ACs 2868 and 2878 followed by 6021, a modified SD40 (Ex-CN 5226) and 2007, a standard cab GE Dash 8 (Ex-Chicago Northwestern 8508). They're in use on iron ore trains in Minnesota, they come up to Winnipeg for servicing which is pretty cool, as CN has recently retired and scrapped a ton of their Dash 8's.
** I got the dates messed up in the video graphic, The thumbnail photo says it was taken on September 2nd, the caboose video says September 4th and the video of the freight train says September 3rd... and then the files were uploaded to my PC on the 13th... weird, all I know is that the two trains were taken on the same day and that it was some time in early September, lol.
