SJ1000 SportsCam Test

'SJ1000' ActionCam/CarCam, test. Thanks 'Techmoan' for the review.
My camera had to be returned to Hong Kong under warranty. Looking forward to the replacement as I was impressed with the video quality of the unit.

Fish eye lense throws me off a bit when viewing, good quality though. What country is this in? I got a little scared for the driver a few times, thinking "he's driving on the wrong side of the road" just for a split second after he made turns; before remembering this driver isn't in the US.

(Answer to Syscrash) The unit was returned because the date/time settings would have to be constantly reset. and it intermittently failed to power up on the battery source. (These two issues obviously related) I have my own theory about an 'over voltage protection circuit' included in one of the internal IC's. Ultimately it wasn't my problem though.

G' Day Mate, .... Yes, I was also offered a relacement battery but declned. I was not willing to risk the problem being circuit related (as I suspected) and still have issues (battery (load & standing) tested O.K.) and a 4 week shipping lead-time from Hong Kong contributed to that decission.
I think your money if safe, if the battery is not the issue they can replace the unit for you.
I'm sure there are people whom spent $500 on a 'Go-Pro' and had problems. P.S. cost me $13.00AU return postage

G' Day Mate, I modified/Fabricated the supplied mounts and made them very neat & tidy (low profile) . I would love to show you the 'Chin mount' (strong magnetic mount) I made, but as I said I'm reluctant to encourage others to alter a helmet that was designed to keep your NEURONS protected from TRAUMA.

G' Day Mate, No, the waterproof case is visible in the image,  so I don't use it. I prefer to gently clean the lens after use (if necessary). as for the mount, I am reluctant to encourage modifications to a SAFETY device designed to protect your NEURONS from TRAUMA. Hope you understand.

Just over 2 Hours recording (on the highest settings) .... Decreasing over time I imagine, (the nature of rechargeable batteries).

(Answer to Lampscal1) Mate, I can tell you, but with this preface.
Altering or modifying a helmet manufactures design is not only contravening the 'safety standard' of the only thing standing between you and neurological damge, but is likely illigal in your state.
Having said that, I used magnets to attach it to the chin of a 'full face' helmet.
I would post pics or video of the method, but I decline to encourage others from an act I consider quite stupid really.

mine has the same battery problem and They are just sending me a new battery .
Seems to me the Camera has the issue not the battery but I just have to wait for nature to take its course before I get a new camera !!!!
