You can slow (some) enemies with the lunar weapons

It's been known for a while that the Silent Moons enchantment wasn't quite working right. But the assumption that the Lunar weapons do absolutely nothing obscures the much more interesting truth.

Update: I was wrong at 0:48 when I said the effect isn't affected by magic resistance. I thought this because I was messing with the 1 point version of the enchantment, and the effect has a minimum initial magnitude of 1 point.
Consider this excerpt from the in-game book, Notes On The Lunar Forge
"It seems that once the sun has gone down, the Lunar weapons take on a vampire-like ability, transferring a small amount of health from the victim to the user."
So if their goal was to have a drain health enchantment, I don't see how much further they could have gotten.

I feel like the lunar forge was meant to be a lot more expanded upon rarly in game development but left barebone in the end.

Huh, I didnt even know the effect was broken. I personally didnt use it because I thought to myself “why would I want fire damage only at night when I could just use regular fire enchantments?”

I like the enchantment glitches in all TES games. It feels like you discover a forbidden knowledge so dangerous it literally could kill gods in one touch.

I wonder if the lunar forge was originally meant to be the companion's forge but they ended up switching it to skyforge and just dropped the lunar one entirely. Werewolves using the lunar forge seems fitting

I remember my first skyrim playthrough back in 2011 and I remember maxing out my enchanting so I could add what I thougt would be fitting and interesting enchantments to my weapons. So of couse being an edgy teenager at the time and my char being a vampire I thougt the silent moons enchantment would be great for a deadric sword.. And it felt great until a friend told me that the enchantment was broken and did not work and I felt like an idiot

Stuff like the lunar weapons are so obviously messed up you have to wonder how no one noticed their enchantment had the _wrong effect._ The enchantment description doesn't match what the effect actually is. That's an amateur mistake that I made when first creating spell mods yet Bethesda's team of _professionals_ missed it.

I can draw no other conclusion than Bethesda doesn't actually have a QA team. They can't when stuff like this is still in the full game release.

Makes me think the silent moon effect was supposed to be a type of lethargy debuff, making the victim weak and tired so they attack slower. It probably got scrapped and given a basic fire enchant but they didn't clean it up so it's still some strange hybrid enchantment.

CAN CONFIRM THIS WORKS (tested: vanilla Switch version)

And the caveats are indeed pretty major:
- Enemy must have Dual Flurry and/or Quick Shot perks (e.g. Forsworn)
- The enchant must deal exactly 1 point Silent Moons damage
- YOU CAN ONLY STRIKE THE ENEMY ONCE. Hitting then again will cause their affected stat to flow into negative values, which the game code recognizes as invalid resulting in them returning to normal attack speed.

It's pretty funny watching a Forsworn Ravager archer take a full 4 seconds just to arm their bow, to say nothing of nocking the arrow and taking the shot.
