Makes me cry every single time. It reminds me of myself. My friends and loved ones all wanted what was best for me and I just gave up. I resigned myself to an awful life because I didn’t think I deserved better. I still don’t. But when Franklin is talking in this scene, he means every fucking word. And I understand it. He still loves Leon and everybody he came up with. He just knows he will pull them all down with him and that’s the last thing he wants. So he leaves. Just like I did. And it’s the biggest regret of my entire life and nothing else even comes close. Such a real scene man.

Franklin developedtunnel vision over his loss and it spiraled into "addict mentality" to where his mom, V, and even Leon had to cut him off and not enable his chase for the impossible (being he wasn't gonna get that money back AND get to have the life he expected)

His behavior mirrored the behavior of the people addicted to his product and no amount would ever be enough after losing 73M, so there were a lot of parallels there.

Then that shot of liquor he was given helped his stress, but he leaned on the bottle full force being he was predisposed to alcoholism due to his father...

By the end, when the house was being taken, he realized the final "materialistic burden" in his life (and from his past) was gone, so him saying
"I don't have no chains on me now, I'm free" not only applied to no ties left to the past/that neighborhood/ stressors;
BUT In the Pilot episode AND several times in the final season he mentioned his "Freedom" so things came full circle.

Franklin found his freedom in the end.... just faaaar from what he expected years prior.

Bittersweet ending, but poetic.

It is absolutely criminal that this show did not win any awards. The actor who plays Franklin is such an amazing actor. He definitely deserve more. This scene was truly heartbreaking but well done.
