What's your opinion on an ancestral type diet on heart attack risk... The cave men never went to the dentist and had very few cavities. Was plaque an issue with health in your opinion back before agriculture? Dr. Weston Price images tell a good story

After losing 2 teeth and doing research - I now take D3 + k2 and My dental protocol that cleared my plaque: coconut oil oil-pulling 3 minutes; brush with 50/50 baking soda & turmeric; floss and use hydrogen peroxide diluted in water pic .... in 3 days tartar started coming off my teeth ... now I use regular toothpaste 6 days soda/turmeric 1 day; after eating and before bed I use Xylitol - gum or rinse ... no more swelling between gums also. Additionally, I quit the regular excess sugar consumption. Last dental check they actually asked what I was doing because my teeth were so clean. I also recently did blood work and glucose was well within range - I'm 63.

A real eye-opener! Most of us do not think that plagues are associated with diseases such as heart attacks! You always gives great tips!

Not just dental plaque or arterial plaque but BRAIN plaque too. After several months on carnivore, I had no more dental plaque, no more caries, and my BP fell into the low normal range. Amazing... it's all about the proper human diet!

I’m an RN and RDH. Your mouth is the gateway to the rest of your body so your mouth health is definitely directly related to your overall health. This makes it hard for me to understand why dental insurance is separate from health insurance.

Thank you for helping people be aware of the dental maintenance that is necessary to prevent systemic disease. I’m a retired dentist from practicing general dentistry for over 35 years.
I find that knowing how important daily home care is and how to perform it may not be enough. I have seen patients that tell me they brush and floss regularly more than most and really want to stop any problems but are not effective. The reason isn’t necessarily the toothbrush or toothpaste as it is the technique. See. You’re trying to remove something that is invisible and literally can be infected or inflamed without any obvious signs of swelling or bleeding or pain. I will show a patient how easily I am able to make their gums bleed with a probe or rubber tip stimulator and they had not seen any bleeding when they brush. And this is just marginal gingivitis. Something that is easily reversible. They probably may never had heard a dental professional tell them, but they need to do something different and actually need to make it bleed or it won’t get better. It will only will take 3 days. Don’t over do it. It takes time. Just once or twice a day and you don’t need to hurt yourself. Chronic infection as very dangerous as you stated but just going to the dentist won’t treat it. Like changing oil. It needs effective daily home care. Helps to disclose the plaque using a dye and seeing what you actually need to do to-remove the sticky biofilm that builds up right at and slightly below the gum line.
For more resistant deeper pockets with disease, periodontitis, I recommend antimicrobial mouthrinses. Can even be used in the waterpick. Hydrofloss is a special waterpick that has been studied to reduce plaque formation using magnets and has special attachments that can get deeper into the deep spaces under the gums, pockets. . An OTC, over the counter, ❤mouthrinse IORINSE I believe is one of the best rinses out there if you do have active infections. It is molecular iodine with many advantages. Some dentist can actually offer you custom fitting mouth trays that can be used to help place special antimicrobial products deeper into pockets that is worthy of trying before any surgery. 😅

I suggest using the water pick while in the shower, far less messy and easier.

I’ve found that “dry brushing” as soon as you get up in the morning, before you eat or drink anything, helps to remove any plaque that forms overnight. That practice has greatly reduced the tartar that forms on my lower front teeth between dental cleanings. I’ve seen this mentioned on a few dental YT channels. It works.

Xytol pulling is a game changer. Just a teaspon is enough. and make sure not to swallow, but spitting it out after swirling it around for 5-10 min. Of course brushing is essential, and flossing, when needed, is geat too.

yea doc when I was a kid, id pull water in my teeth with the brush, just slurp it up and through the teeth like an irrigation system, i didn't have a cavity till my late teens . i was lucky to have a good cleaning system. my dentist was unhappy to not make any money off me & all my insurance was 100 %

I'll second this. About 25 years ago I spent a summer feeling dizzy. Dentist found a rotten wisdom tooth. A few days on an antibiotic that Fall prior to the tooth being pulled and no more dizziness. I'me 78 and afib started up a year and a half ago and progressively got worse. Simultaneaously I had an increasingly sore jaw, gum infections increased and vertigo started. This spring I went to the dentist for the first time in 3 years; sure enough I had another bad tooth that was immediately pulled. No more infections, vertigo and my afib has dropped to only 0.3% of the time.

I read about 15 years ago that you should floss before you brush so that is what I do now. It makes sense because you want the brush to make contact with as much of each tooth as possible and if you have food covering it, the brush won't make contact with all of the tooth. Floss before you brush.

Great information. My wife is a Cardiologist and makes the same recommendations. My question is about the participants in these studies. I am certain that the folks in the studies are almost all eating a standard American diet. I would love to see studies that 100% consisted of people not eating the sugars and processed foods in today's society. Thanks for your work.

Thank you, Dr. Brewer, for the insightful video! Oral health is crucial for overall well-being. I've observed that neglecting dental care can lead to severe consequences, including bone damage, carpal tunnel syndrome, and issues with shoulders, back, and knees. Unfortunately, many people avoid dental visits due to fear, including strong individuals. However, dentists offer specialized treatments to help anxious patients overcome their fears. It's essential to prioritize oral health to prevent avoidable suffering. Your expertise sheds light on this vital aspect of healthcare. Keep educating us!

I stopped eating carbs 15 years ago and stopped both my prediabetes and periodontal disease completely, along with cardiac arrhythmia.

I started using a Waterpik over 30 years ago. It made a drastic improvement in my oral health. Now, I never travel without the travel version with me.

I use a Butler stick with the orange pointy thing at the end. After your routine which is what Dr. Brewer says, go around each tooth. You will see a white cream, keep rinsing it off the orange rubber thing. That's what turns to plaque. I also use half of a broken cuticle scissor and scrape between the lower bottom teeth, inner side. That's where it collects the most. Or you can but a dental tool but it has to be sharp at the end. I do this every night, sometimes twice a day. My teeth are squeaky clean but I still get professional cleanings.

I've only recently discovered how lacking my oral hygiene was. I thought because I was doing the minimum and stopped getting cavities, that meant I was good. That's logical, but there are so many unseen benefits of doing more. I have tonsil issues, and now I have those issues much less often. I get sick less, particularly sore throats. Not to mention the long-term benefits like what's mentioned in this video. One of the best health changes I've made. If you have tonsil or sore throat issues like me, I'd strongly recommend daily warm saltwater gargling/rinses as part of your brushing routine.

Hi Dr.Brewer, good day. This is your 73-yr-old avid follower from the Philippines. I have been learning a lot from you. Many thanks for your valuable advices. One of these days, I am going to consult you about my check up numbers. I hope you will have time looking into it. I am planning to have CIMT very soon and other tests that you have recommended in your channel. Best regards and God bless you more.
