This shows how big corporates are. A boy who purchased a domain completely legally and he isn't even asking for money but his college fee. And Ambani can spend thousands crores in a wedding but can't pay his college fee. Reliance will spend money on lawyers and attorneys but won't sponsor his studies.

Edit: It’s illegal as Jio is already registered in India and any such case in court will have 99.9% chances of loss. Kid knew that already.
Fact: Jio isn’t liable to pay any amount to kid as they already have hundreds numbers of lawyers working for them and getting paid every month. That’s not how corporate works to suddenly comes up guy asking for donation and companies do it.

Note for people who never read and rely on YouTubers for knowledge: Domain flipping is a legitimate business. Copyright/Trademark infringement and blackmail is a crime. Your emotions or what you think should happen do not matter. Courts interpret the laws to apply to any given case and pronounce a decision.

The mistake he did was admitting why he did that. Now unfair trade practices laws will apply in court. If he kept his mouth shut till reliance approached him and simply demanded money, he might have had the advantage in court.

You obviously are clueless. This is not regular domain flipping, this js domain squatting. It is always the trademark owners that win. In developed countries, domain squatting is illegal. In India, it may not be but the court will go with the trademark owner. The man did a mistake by making his intention clear. You should never say I bought this to sell it to you - that takes away even the small chance he has. Companies all over the world do not offer more than a very small amoint for their trademark domain name. No, a 20 year old is not a boy, he is an adult. No, no other rich people will pay him 1 crore, they know they will lose the money if rhey do.

And they may create this kind of news, and now people buy domain names from them for tens of thousands or lakhs, which indirectly benefits Reliance.

If he demanded 1cr, it wouldn't be a issue, he attached layers to it to gain sentimental hook by mentioning education etc etc. Instead of negotiation, he opened his hands for charity. Day in n out thousands of acquired domains gets auctioned & he should have chose that route. But no, he want publicity n sympathy. As he mentioned in letter, he wanted to do some entrepreneurial course, may be he learnt his first lesson here itself.
