High Tech/Low Tech Solutions to Advancing Health Equity in Emergency Medicine (ADIEM, AGEM, and Equity & Inclusion Committee Sponsored)

Presenters:

Alden M. Landry, MD, MPH
Andrew Marshall, MD, MBI

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to:

- Conduct interventions to advance health equity using current data collection expectations from regulatory bodies.
- Identify opportunities to maximize current workforce efforts to advance health equity.
- Utilize technological abilities and EHRs to improve care for historically marginalized patient populations.

Academic emergency medicine has been on the forefront of the discussion on advancing health equity for historically marginalized patient populations with the expectation that efforts will permeate beyond the academic community into all aspects of emergency medicine. However, some are reticent in adopting new efforts for many reasons, including but not limited to, time, effort, workforce, and technological concerns. This didactic session will help the audience learn of both high tech interventions and low tech interventions that are data driven efforts to address health equity and provide opportunities for an open discussion on adopting techniques to care for those patients whose needs are most often overlooked in emergency departments.
