Gillian Flynn’s Book Recommendations

I don't know about you but I love Gillian Flynn. This dark, gritty thriller writer is the brains behind Gone Girl, Sharp Objects and Dark Places. And we've been waiting a while for her next book to come out. Until then, I've compiled a list of some of her favourite books - books she loves, books she's blurbed. I hope you enjoy!

Gillian Flynn is such a good author with good taste. A lot of her recommended books end up on my tbr. I hadn't heard of Where They Found Her, but it sounds heartbreaking and thrilling! And all the rest of these books also are on my radar and my tbr. She's spot on!

I LOVED The Woman in the Window!!!! :) I had a hard time putting that one down! Anxious to hear what you think of it. I read Gone Girl ages ago and that book had me all in until the ending. Hated it! I'm definitely not a fan of open endings. I need to know exactly how it ends. So at the time I also had Sharp Objects, but I was so annoyed after reading Gone Girl, that I got rid of Sharp Objects before even reading it. HOWEVER, I just picked it up this week because it was on sale at my library book store for .50 cents (yikes!!) and I'm even more excited now seeing how Sharp Objects is your fav and others on here as well. :) Happy reading!!

I LOVE Gillian Flynn, I'm itching for her to write another book lol! I really need to read I'll Be Gone in the Dark, it sounds like an intense read. I haven't read any Karin Slaughter yet but I keep hearing about her so I definitely have to check her books out! Another book that has a blurb by Gillian Flynn is called Our Kind of Cruelty, so I have high hopes for it.

I liked your comment about your parents not letting you read a certain book or genre. I’ve been reading adult fiction for as long as I can remember. My parents never censored what I read, so I read everything from adult historical romance novels to true crime to mystery/suspense to sci-fi from a very young age. I didn’t really start reading YA until the Harry Potter series came out, and I was well into adulthood.

Sharp objects gave me so much anxiety it was nerve wracking! Gone girl was so descriptive. Sharp objects was such an interesting read and overall a fun adventure.

I have a complicated relationship with Gillian Flynn haha, but either way she's undeniably one to watch! She recommended Dolores Claiborne by Stephen King in the back of Sharp Objects and that's both a great book and also I can see why she'd recommend it as it has similar vibes to some of her stuff

"The Woman in the Window" sounds especially interesting. I'm intrigued with the scenario of someone never leaving their house. Then you add the element of seeing something happen at the neighbors'....this is getting even more interesting!---"In Cold Blood" at the age of 10. Wow. I read it at 13 and had bad dreams. An interesting fact is that one day short of 25 years, six member of the DeFeo family were murdered in Amityville, New York, and from that came the famous "Amityville Horror" story though the criminal rather than supernatural aspect is more interesting to me. "The Good Daughter" sounds very good too. If I see "The Woman in the Window" and "The Good Daughter", they're coming home with me!
