"Preserving history through music."

Archivum Musicum

Description: "Yankee Doodle" is a traditional American song and a nursery rhyme, the early versions of which predate the Seven Years' War and American Revolution. It is often sung patriotically in the United States today and is the state anthem of Connecticut. Its Roud Folk Song Index number is 4501. The melody is thought to be much older than both the lyrics and the subject, going back to folk songs of Medieval Europe.

I love the fact that the Americans played this at the british surrender at Yorktown. Talk about rubbing salt into the wounds. A Rabble-farmer militia whom earlier was "dissed" with this song as un-educated colonials turned the song around and played it to the defeated Empire.

Fun fact, Yankee Doodle is a british song that made fun of the Americans, and they ended up accepting the song as a traditional american

I may just have bad hearing, but at 1:28, it sounds more like they said "half to death" instead of half today.

And seeing as it sounds like theyre talking about the Boston massacre, pretty terrifying (8 colonials dead).

I have bad in hearing but in 1:37 I think it's not "lock in my mommy chamber" but it's instead "lock in daddy's little chamber"

"And there we saw the Men and Boys as Thick as Hasty Pudding"
idk what that meant back then but it sure is very different now

Use the song your enemy wrote to mock and despise you to make a patriotic song and sing it when you win against them.
