Forgot this banger from '88 when my daughter was born.

It’s a simple song not meant to be tricked out with over the top production.
The lyrics are straightforward and the arrangements suit it perfectly.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but l think the point is missed by some.

He wrote this song for his wife/family; a very relatable song for some, and not so relatable for others.

Frozen Ghost were pretty good - ex-Sherriff guys. I had two of their albums back then. "End of The Line" was my favorite song - I liked Wolf Hassel's bass playing on that one. I don't like this song either, though....

I believe that some songs are produced by artists to illustrate the conflicts going on in their minds. The rather melancholy musical composition set with positive lyrics could represent the artist's disappointment with himself for "not having alot to give" for having his "dream come true"...and isn't it almost always the case that a person dreams of providing for loved ones unrealistically and may suffer some depression falling short of the dream..even though he has everything he ever wanted.

I reacted to this song when it first came out it was 1986 not 88 and frozen ghost is Canadian too.

I’m with you Angela, I think there’s not a lot of ‘special’ in this for me, either. Every chord change, and every rhymed lyric feels predictable. Lowest common denominator feeling. Nothing wrong with it, per se, but it didn’t take me anywhere. As always, your honesty and integrity shine true.

Love Frozen Ghost-- there are some better songs by them though: "Promises", "End of the Line", "Should I See", "Round and Round", "Pauper in Paradise", "Shine On Me", "Truth In Lies", "Head Over Heels", and "Yum Bai Ya". I do really like this song, but it is more of a generic ballad for them-- they have a lot of fun stuff--one of my favorite bands of the late 80s-early 90s.

Quite enjoyed this, as you said good lyrics and very heartfelt, with some nice vocals and acoustic guitar, but didn't really stand out to me-Colin Ward

Now imagine Freddie Mercurys version of this, sitting at the piano backed up by the rest of Queen, would be so much better.

It doesn't do anything for me! Sorry! Later! Spoke too soon! You're saying everything I wasn't able to think of while writing my comment! Bye again!
