One of the things I love about watching him solve sudoku is how sometimes he’ll see moves I don’t see and sometimes I’ll see moves he doesn’t see. It’s fascinating.

Before watching this video my husband and I decided to have a go. We managed to solve it in 3 hours (thought we'd be lucky to get even 1 number in there!). It took some persistence but was great fun and we enjoyed the sense of achievement. It's been difficult to focus during the covid19 confinement and this has been the first time in weeks that we have been able to get into the "flow state" with anything and time flew by. So thanks!

Watching this video a year later, I am amazed of how much Simon's solving has improved in the last year. He was already really good here, but I think he would solve it much faster now, he missed a lot of easy wins for a long time, which I think he would now spot.

18:51 He starts a brilliant and complex thinking to find 1 and 2 on columns 7-8 when the pencil markings of 1 on column 7 were already pointing to the position of 1 in column 8. It was both amazing AND revolting to watch it!

If you are not going to monetize software(or even in that case), consider placing it to github/gitlab/etc so community can place Pull Requests. For example, changing corner mode so it works as in Hodoku is definitely trivial.

This is the first non-GAS sudoku I've solved on this channel, so I'm quite pleased with myself. Needed to check the video twice - once to get the first 1 placed, and again to undo a silly mistake I made involving the 3 in box 6. Still felt like I mostly solved it myself though!
