Helium Leaks are always fun. A bit of a nitpick - it's not that the system is leaking helium, it's that it's leaking helium faster than expected. The easiest way to tell if a system has a helium leak is to look at the design and see if it's a helium system.

Otherwise, I would tend to agree. I haven't dug deep into the contracts, I think that Boeing's best path forward would be to sell off all of the technology and tooling to another company for cheap. A qualified pressure vessel for human flight would be pretty valuable. If someone could buy the current design at firesale prices, they could potentially make something of it.

Embarrassingly I never realized that the SpaceX trunk didn't have a bunch of thrusters in it. So SpaceX got a bunch less money, got dogged repeatedly, had to expend a rocket for an inflight abort test, and a couple things I know I'm forgetting.... And the dragon is still a much better ship. Of course it did have experience with the uncrewed dragon used for the CRS missions.
I'm willing to bet the doghouse thermal issues are very difficult to test. Cooling in the vacuum of space is minimal, so they work okay with a bit of air helping cool the system. Hard to test thrusters in a vacuum as they pretty quickly delete the vacuum.
Sadly I think Boeing has across the board proven itself unreliable, neglent, and probably dishonest. Not an uncommon problem with publicly traded companies.
