England were pretty crap, BUT.... in qualifying, that Iceland team beat Holland, then went to Amsterdam and did it again to prove it was no fluke. In the tournament itself, they beat a fancied Austrian team, drew with the eventual winners, and stuck two goals past France. England were indeed crap ... but have some respect for an Iceland side that was far far better than it looked on paper - and proved it several times.

For those hating on Southgate, Saka, Sancho, Rashford etc, please look at THIS England squad and manager. Our current England team (as of me writing this in 2021) would beat the shit out of this 2016 England squad, undeniably.

Southgate made mistakes with his penalty takers in the final. But that does not take away what he has achieved and hopefully he will go one step further the next few times.

He brought us from a humiliating Iceland loss in 90 mins to runners-up to an Italian side that we should have no shame in losing to in penalties if I'm being honest.
