I live in northern ill. and am in Wisconsin quite a bit, never had a negitive vibe ever. More bars than grocerie stores is great.

Madison is not representative of Wisconsin. It's a completely different reality.

Sorry to tell you Madison is nothing like the rest of the state.

I have been living in Madison for 40 years and I totally agree with the Summer Migration Fridays issue. It almost seems like in Madison the work week for many people is four days from Monday through Thursday. On the other hand I disagree about Madison being humid in the summer. My experience is that Madison in only really humid a couple of weeks or so in the summer. August is typically when the real humid weather can hit but it can sometimes happens for a few days in June or July too.

I just graduated from UW Oshkosh and lived in Oshkosh for two summers when I lived off campus. EAA is one of the most popular events in the region. It was super cool to drive by the airport and see all the planes flying around and people camping for EAA. I’ve never been to it, but I know people who have and from what they’ve told me I can see why it brings so many people from all over the world

Nice shoutout to Belts! I live like 4 blocks away and can certainly vouch for it.
After living in Madison and Stevens point for roughly 5 years each, I feel as if Stevens point is like a small Madison (but with free parking). Thoughts?

What almost everyone DOESN'T know: The term "cheese head" was coined by a FIB Illinois columnist for the Chicago Sun-Times. He was driving in Wisconsin and he got stopped for speeding. In his column, shortly thereafter, he desparagingly referred to the policeman as a "cheese head". Someone on the south side of Milwaukee read the column and thought: "Hey...I've got an idea". He fashioned a cheese shaped hat out of some foam rubber...sprayed it yellow...and wore it to a Milwaukee Brewers baseball game. Everyone wanted to know where he got it. The rest is history!

Most things they mentioned here are trivial. THE BIG THINGS are Property Taxes, State Taxes and WINTERS. WINTERS are brutal. Also, traffic laws are very strictly enforced in some places, even to the point you better not have your car parked too far from the curb (much less pointed the wrong way on the street).

I just want to say that this YouTube channel is such a brilliant idea. I’ve never seen a real estate business do such informational videos like this. Very helpful — thank you!

Can always tell when someone isn't a Wisconsinite from how they pronounce Wisconsin. Wis-Con-Sin means they aren't from around here, Wisc-On-Sin means they were born here.

I used to take a small cooler out here when I lived in Colorado and bring it back full of cheese from the dairy and cheese place near my parents house.

The cool part about where my parents live is there is a butcher a few miles away so I only eat steak when I go to their house. Store bought stuff is crap.

Coming from the Northeast the humidity up there was a welcome change. It's not high at all!

As long as I can find a Walmart in the area, I'm good 👍.
I'm very used to Midwest seasons being from Illinois (southwest of Chicago).winter and construction

It depends on where you are for the humidity.

I have been living in Wisconsin for almost 26 years full time. I’m originally from Gurnee, Illinois. I lived in Door County Wisconsin. It is so peaceful in late fall to mid spring. My parents built a vacation home in the fall of 1979. We spent a lot of vacations in that part of Wisconsin. My parents retired in 1993 and made their vacation home their permanent home till my mother passing in 2018. My sister put the house for sale at the end of the year and was sold. The people sold the place. The current people who owned the house is using it as a vacation rental. I wish that I was living in the house instead of living in my apartment. I did live with my parents in 1993-94 with our 3 cats and even my sister, too. My sister and I did stuff with our parents over the years in that house. We had 2 cats that we brought up from Illinois. The cats enjoyed coming from Illinois to Wisconsin. They were both indoor and outdoor cats. Only one did stayed close towards the house to be close towards us. When I was in my early teens that I always hated to come up towards Door County and my attitude changed. I even made friends in Door County Wisconsin over the years. Even my father was from Phillips, Wisconsin. I even went there when I was little kid to visited my grandmother and even my uncle, too. The last time that I was there was my grandmother’s funeral a little bit over 29 years ago. I loved to see my 2nd cousin that lives there. She was adopted by my uncle. She is a Native American. I just loved her. We aren’t blood related. I treated her as part of my family since the 1st time that I met her in late June of 1993 with my grandmother.

Thanks for all the information. My husband and I are planning on moving to Wisconsin with our two kids next year. Here in Phoenix our seasons consist of almost summer, summer, summer, fall. I think we going to need to get a whole new wardrobe 😅.

I'm from Illinois and I'm thinking of moving to Wisconsin or Iowa, but I do respect the laws of other states and respect others especially Wisconsin with beautiful, friendly people. I'm also a very patient driver, I figure that wherever I'm going will still be there, so I take my time
