TOP 10 CITIES FOR LAWYERS//The Buying Power Index (BPI) is a measure of how far an average lawyer salary can go in a particular state to help law students and law school graduates determine the top cities for young lawyers. Knowing your legal career "buying power" is one factor in determining the best states to practice law and begin your legal career, and in turn give you additional information to know how to choose your first job out of law school.

This is exactly what I needed! Didn’t know about bpi but absolutely should consider it. Thanks for another great video🙏

I know this is an older video but it is excellent information for future lawyers. As a 20+ year BigLaw lawyer, I wish I had considered these factors in a more quantitative manner when I was beginning my practice.

Benny from Dallas, Texas here. UNT Dallas student in my final year. Working for acceptance into UNT Dallas College of Law. This video is great motivator for students like myself who want nothing more than to become an attorney and practice law. Awesome video, thanks a bunch!

I’m from Houston and I currently live in Atlanta for my undergrad! I thought I would have to move to NYC and now I realize I will have options once I graduate law school! I’ll be monitoring this for the next 3 years.

Born and raised in Boston, so it was refreshing to see it in the top ten of the 2011 study and at number 11 five years later. Go Sox!

Very useful information, thank you so much! I am currently in Houston and contemplated started my legal career (Law school first) in either NYC or DC, after seeing this I am definitely going to re-evaluate staying in Houston or going to DC. Thank you so much for this information!

Do you know by any chance what is the best place to practice law. Some were stating that NYC pays great but the stress is crazy, compared to other cities. Would love to know. Thank you. ❤️

Rust Belt cities are the cheapest cities to live in. Can't comment on how much the lawyers make in each city but I know you can rent 4 apartments in Ohio for 1 in New York. That's 4X. The same is true of Buffalo, Detroit, Saint Louis, Milwaukee, and Kansas City. Everything else is cheaper also. Columbus Ohio is the only city in Ohio that is not rust belt BTW. It didn't have a manufacturing base. The reason is most of the cities have a 40-60% population decline resulting in vacant housing. I think they grossly underestimate the buying power in the rust belt. 100k a year in Cleveland is like 400k in New York City and 600k a year in San Francisco based off of housing alone. Car repair is also cheaper in Cleveland because many mechanics have junkyards to get replacement parts. Parking is usually free, there isn't many toll roads. I've never been to Texas so I have no idea about the cost. But I live in West Palm Beach FL now and its way more expensive than Ohio, but not nearly as expensive as NYC.
