Donald Trump’s Colorado ballot exclusion for insurrection possibly being appealed and going to the Supreme Court is analyzed by legal experts. “Colorado is executing its state's rights to decide who should be on their own ballot,” legal expert Elie Mystal tells Joy Reid. Noah Bookbinder, president of Crew, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, also joins The ReidOut to discuss.

I don't understand how any court can argue that the president isn't an officer when the president elect takes an oath to faithfully execute the OFFICE OF PRESIDENT! Can anyone explain this to me?

There are a large number of sitting house and senate members from the GOP who should be expelled at the very least. Some should probably be going to prison.

It is now in the hands of a supreme court, which will be tested, like never before, in protecting our constitution and the letter of the law. Let’s hope they do the right thing.

This is not States rights, it is a self executing provision in our Constitution. Enforce all the Amendments.

The Supreme Court either upholds the constitution or it falls.

State’s rights? Or, their own interests?
Which do you think they’ll prefer?

If you pay the Supreme court enough they will do anything.

Enforce the 14th Amendment and the clause requiring a peaceful transfer of power. Insurrectionists must not be qualified to hold any government office.

As an American I realize there is a distinct possibility that we are one election away from goose-stepping authoritarianism. I will do my part to keep that from happening, but just like the people in 1930's Europe, it may not be enough.
There is no culture so great it can't be destroyed by tiny minds.

I would force justice Thomas to recuse himself for the decision of the Colorado Supreme Court. Not trustable at all and because of his wife’s conduct

States do have rights - but states have no rights to stop people from voting for who they want to vote for - and the 14 amendment is Federal and not state!

If this holds up, then red states should be able to take Biden off too.

Trump was never charged with insurrection 🤷🏼‍♂️ I don’t get on what grounds they come to this conclusion. This is the most politically motivated judgement I’ve seen yet.
Not a whole lot of objectivity on this panel

6 of the supreme court _will_ follow their own ideology, which will match the ideology of those who are buttering their bread.
