Tim Keller is asked a handful of difficult questions during his appearance at The Veritas Forum several years ago. The question featured here regarding Christianity and Homosexuality was one of the most challenging of all. It is also one of the most important because it is one of the most widely misunderstood.

Yes not accepting Christ leads to hell but choosing to live in sin is denying Christ. So it's not just about saying yes Christ is my Lord and savior but living it in obedience to the Word of God.

If he is a Minister, he should answer direct from the Scriptures, not from his own opinion.

The Bible doesn't have reservations about homosexuality. Jesus told us to go and sin no more. Not that you never slip up and sin. What that means is that you don't live in sin as a lifestyle. What that means is that you don't shift the paradigm. Thieves who become believers abandon theft--they don't decide that the Bible has reservations about theft. They acknowledge that stealing is a sin. And if they slip up and steal, they repent and ask for forgiveness.

This was extremely confusing answer to the unbelievers in this audience.

"What do many of the churches have against homosexuality..."?
-->Why don't we start with:
"Why is *GOD* against homosexuality?".
-->This way we can put it on Him -instead of something Christians have a problem with.

Jesus is on His Way!

To love your neighbor as you love yourself is to tell them the truth and point them to Christ not to make them comfortable in their sins.

A nearly 7 minute clip of Keller talking about one of the most important topics in our socio-spiritual climate, and he couldn't be bothered to mention the roll and importance of repentance once? Seriously??

One issue on this subject is that other sins are not being forced on society as a non-sin. Even sins like gambling that is widely practiced is not glorified. We aren't calling ppl phobic or bigots for thinking gambling is sinful or problematic. It's only homosexuality that is being used as a societal weapon to silence Christians. So Tim Keller can say "homosexuality is like any other sin" and be correct, but also he is not giving the full context of the weaponization of the homosexuality movement.

There's one BIG problem in approaching the question of homosexuality from the standpoint that it is all about whether a person has accepted that Jesus died on the cross for them and that on that basis only they are saved. There is one all important factor that has been left out. That is REPENTANCE. To leave repentance out would be an incomplete gospel - which is therefore not "The Gospel". The gospel that Jesus proclaims, and makes very clear, is that it includes repenting of our sinfulness. We find this throughout the Gospels. In Luke chapter 13, verse 3 Jesus says " ....unless you repent, you too will all perish". When we come to know Jesus as our Saviour there is a powerful change in our thinking and our way of life. It's the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit within us that does this. This ongoing change produces repentance and a submissiveness to the will of God to turn away from what we know to be offensive to Him.

The question wasn't "should one love his neighbor?". The question is: does one who refuses to repent go to heaven? If any of us live in any lifestyle of sin, were we ever truly converted?

Keller punted on the question (s). Keller isn't clear or plain in his "layered response." He was a slave to contextualization and it shows here.

And here is what's so beautiful..when you accept what Jesus did, he comes in and transforms your mind and then the things you used to love to do that didn't bring God happiness you find out they loose taste to you

In my opinion he didn't say anything wrong. But also, he avoided to say the full truth. There is something that doesn't seem right in his response.

Love is not enabling others to remain in their sins.

Sin is sin, there's no gray matter. He’s kinda beating around the bush on this one.

I've committed just about every sin there is. However, in my journey to better understand the Trinity, I humbly repented for them. I am weak and I commit some of the same sins over and over again. And I beg God to forgive me, guide me, and strengthen me from sinning again. I do NOT deny that what I did was a sin. I do NOT try to normalize it and call people ugly names, because they won't accept my sin as righteous behavior. I do NOT confuse the concepts of LOVE and SEX.

Jesus said "love your neighbor"
Jesus didn't say "help them sin" or "cheer them on";
I had to give up things I like a lot, like weed, idolatry, sex (not the gay kind, though) and the homosexual practices are something they should also be considered to give up. 🤷‍♀️
