Yes! Always try to figure out how your hair grows and what styles will work for you naturally, and how much work youre willing to put in every day to style it a different way if thats what you want. Hair is and always will be stubborn and do what it wants. Its a lot easier to work with it rather than against it

As someone who trained their hair for a side part, your roots will dry whatever way they are positioned while wet. If you wash your hair with your head forward you will get more volume, if you wash your hair with your head tilted back the roots will stick up. If you wash your hair with it parted down the middle it will be flat and less volume

My hair grows in oddly, i have a double crown, and my hair spirals right on the left side and left on the right side. Also, your face shape also tells you a TON about how styles will look on you, example is

if you have a round face, avoid short bobs or pixie cuts

If you have a square or rectangular shaped face avoid pixie cuts and strive for medium length hair with layers

Thin ovals tend to look best in curls

Hearts and triangles tend to have better luck with bobs

Thicker ovals tend to look best with long hair and updos

There's more, but hair will look vastly different on a tender scalped fair skin blonde with a round face whose hair spirals left and is straight and naturally oily vs. someone who is a tough scalped tan skinned brunette with a sharp angular face whose hair grows straight up and out and is frizzy and dry


Skin color, face shape, hair growth direction, hair natural texture, scalp properties, and hair properties all change the overall look and health of a haircut

For the example of differences above braids or cornrows might be great for the tan girl but really be unhealthy for the fairskinned girl, and a mid length bob with hair dye would be great for the blonde but be washed out for the brunette and even unhealthy if they have naturally dry hair as they may try to bleach the hair depending on color vibrancy and all of that

Overall, the takeaway is that not all haircuts look good or are even healthy on all people
