Olympus em1 mark ii firmware update 3.4 IS improvement

Hey everyone, this is Alpaco and I wanted to talk about
The minor firmware 3.4 update for the Olympus em1 mark ii.

A Reddit user reported that his Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II with the Olympus OM-D Webcam Beta Software is no longer recognized. Which we determined it was probably because of a Windows update rather than the Olympus update itself.

This made me want to test this with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II as I’ve found another problem has occurred.

While using the Olympus OM-D Webcam Beta Software I have found that both my Olympus em1 mark II and Olympus em1 mark III work without a problem with OBS on my 2019 13-inch MacBook Pro.

I went ahead and tested the phone app as well to make sure that’s working, and it looks like it’s working fine. I don’t use it often, but I’ll probably play with it a bit more in the future.

The biggest problem I found with the update is with HDMI out. The Olympus OMD EM1 Mark II no longer outputs a clean signal. Instead, it only outputs the gallery regardless of the HDMI setting.

The Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II did receive a welcome Image Stabilization upgrade though. Side to side and backwards movements used to have a slight wobble. Which is irritating for some of the work I do.

The update seems to have fixed that for the most part, but I’ll test this out with difference lenses.

I really do hope that this isn’t the last update now that JIP officially owns the Olympus Camera division. The company is now called “OM-Digital Solutions Corp” and it’s hard to tell what’s going to happen. I hope Olympus Cameras still have a future.

That’s it for now. Thanks for watching and have a great day!

1:35 pretty incredible that Olympus still supports an almost 4 year old camera

Thanks for the video, I was pulling my hair as my external monitor is not showing lens view, only the photos and videos from SD card 🙄

Olympus released a firmware update last month and there have been some problems with it. Hopefully they fix it soon! The Ibis update has been welcomed so far. Definitely an improvement for my work!

I Have NOT downloaded the latest firmware update into my E-1 II but I've found I have that same HDMI problem, with just the gallery view, nonetheless. So I think that problem may have been there before the update.
